I'm trying to find a place to buy a racing helmet for SCCA racing. I found some helmets that I like online (Bell Sport 3 and some others), but I really want to try them on to make sure they fit correctly. Anyone know of a place that sells helmets nearby Allentown, PA? Thanks (in advance) for your help!

There's a motorcycle dealership up near Franklin Mills I believe.
I think they usually have pretty good prices on helmets. I don't know
what SCCA requires, but I just use my motorcycle helmet when racing.

yeah i wear a helmet for riding a dirt-bike or quad. i love the way it fits, comfy and lightweight but vision isn't the best. im guessing you are looking for an open-faced one.

any motorcycle place is your best bet.

not sure were to buy them, just some advice though; don't order one online unless you have tried it on in person first!

I found mine in my garage with cobb webbs all over it and it was bright red old school motorcycle helmet. Painted it the same color Black Sand Pearl like my car.

For any form of SCCA racing NONE of the helmets mentioned above are legal
or SAFE. SCCA racing reguires at a minimum a Snell 2000 or Snell 2005 rated
helmet, like the Bell Sport 3 you mentioned. Motorcycle, ATV helmets are not allowed. Kids try to used them because their cheap. In an accident
the others will not provide the protection you will need. I have purchased
many helmets over the years from various on-line vendors like www.helmetcity.com (Think thats right, if not do a google search on that name) Simply follow their sizing charts and a right fit will be yours. Remember, they should fit snug on your face. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Philly SCCA had a discount on helmets at Ride It Again Powersports in Quakertown on 309. I'm not sure if its still good or not. They were very helpful and the 10% discount was pretty sweet.

Go online and and get one. I got one for really cheap from an outlet store and its still DOT approved and brand name and everything so I made out with a good deal only spending 60 bucks on it.

^LOL its DOT approved and it'll protect you from any accident you can get in while doing SCCA in a parking lot in Philly.

As a Trauma Student, I would suggest investing in a excellent neck brace. Protect that C-Spine so I dont have to Immobilize it.
