I actually found a decent deal for my front brake pads. I purchased the EBC "Green Stuff" Pads I believe are made from Kevlar. Anyone use these before and could give me a bit more info. I am told they don't last very long....?

Compared to cheapie pepboy's pads the EBC kevlars are awesome. Compared to metal master or axxis pads they suck. Even the stock Mitsu OEM stops better.
The only nice thing about them is they help keep your wheels clean but the moment you over-heat them they are done.
Btw, I have a spare set of Porterfield pads in my toolbox. Let's compare them. We can stick your EBC pads on, use them hard (but not over-heat them), then throw the Porterfields on there and do the same and figure out the differences.

I have Axxis pads on my car right now and they are toast...so you are saying
Axxis > EBC Green and Axxis is cheaper?

I edited my post, btw.
Are you going to get your rotors cut flat before you install the pads

Kevlar is some kind of magic material that automatically cost more whether it is actually better for a certain application or not. And EBC advertises more....

My rotors are slotted/vented so I am not too sure about getting my rotors cut flat. I would have went with Axxis again since they were cheaper, but I also have heard good things about EBC and as you said they advertise more. I know for sure I am going to bleed my brakes before install and put new fluid in.
Porterfield was recommended to me but the price I found them for was $100+

Which Axxis pads did you have? The Metal Masters are barely better than stock, but most people see them as a nice upgrade if it's all you have ever experienced. The Ultimates on the other hand are a "track" type ceramic pad and they stop great. They are a little dusty but they love heat. The first stop of the day on them they feel stock, as you get some heat in them, they stop harder and harder. I have them on all 4 corners of my car and couldnt be happier for still all stock style components (Rotors, calipers).
Wil, Which porterfield pad's do you have? The R4-S is supposed to be a real nice pad from what I hear but I figured I'd give the Ultimates a try at about half the cost.
I've really never heard anything good about EBC Greenstuff pad's from anyone who has put them through any type of abuse. Most say they are marginally better than stock and it's their ad campaign that sells them.
Sandra, do you already have SS braided brake lines? If not, I'd really recommend doing them while you are in there. They improve feel greatly. You should be able to get drilled/slotted rotors cut, but you need to find a place willing to do it.

That's it. They work great. The only drawback to them is when you use them hard they smell like burnt clutch material.

I was considering it, but I don't have the $100+ to spare right now. If these EBC brake pads wear out as fast as everyone says they do, I most likely will when I get a more decent cash flow. I am unsure which Axxis pads I had, they came with the car almost a year ago. I do know that there is what smells like burning clutch when I stop hard.

How much did you get the EBC pad's for? I just found front and rear Ultimates for only $95. I don't know about the longevity of them however since I've only had them on my car for about 1000 miles.
EDIT: I should have read your post better before asking which axxis pads you had again.

I bought the front EBC (all 4) for $60 shipped. Are the Ultimates made by Axxis? Like I said, I might just go back to Axxis if I come to find that the EBC's did not work out well for me. I just needed a temporary solution since my front pads are toast.

That is a pretty good deal. The Ultimates are Axxis/PBR, pretty much the same company from what I can tell.
As for my car, it is also pretty much a straight line only car, but I was finding that stock replacement pad's were fading at Atlanta dragway from stops over 120mph. There is never an issue at Atco however since their shut down area is 2900ft (over half a mile).

Thanks for the info, as I said I will see how the EBC's do and if they are crapola I will definatley go with the Ultimates all around and I will try the SS brake lines.
