Battery?

My car (WRX) did not start the other day. I checked my battery and found that the water level was low. I filled it up with the distilled water and all and it worked okay for 2 days. So, I just go out to start it today and nothing. The water level is fine. All my lights are working and my turbo timer but not my head unit. I'm wondering if it is possible my head unit has a short and is draining my battery. Is it possible my battery just didnt take a charge or could it be electrical? Any help till I figure it out would be appreciated. Thanx

How many miles do you have on your WRX? I had to replace my battery at 12,000 miles. Since I do not drive my car when there's snow or ice on the ground, I keep it garaged for most of the winter which is pretty hard on the battery. I replaced my battery with an Optima and haven't had any battery-related problems since.

I don't think its recommended anymore to fill the water levels back up...I think your supposed to just replace them..

Wow, I just replaced mine with 82,000 miles. I start my car on average 15 times a day, so I got a lot of starts out of it.

You can check ebay for Hawker Odyssey Batteries PC680MJ series with auto terminals. I've had mine for almost two years now and its been starting my car with no problems. If it craps out on me this winter then I might go with either a Braille or an optima yellow top D51r series. I like trying out new stuff on the car.

Who sells Braille batteries? I just looked on ebay and there is one for sale at $177!

Also looking @ the Braille auto battery's.... Anyone have any experience with these..?The only value to them is that they dump some weight. Unless that's what your looking to do, I would stick with an Optima battery.

Oh,so those small batteries suck??They don't suck, think of them basically as a stock battery minus weight. If you're looking for better cranking or are running a crazy stereo system, get an Optima red top.

Odd. I just had the same exact problem leaving work tonight. Lights, radio, everything worked. But when I cranked it---nothing but a few clicks. Jumped it, and it started immediately. Just a bit fearful of what tomorrow will bring.

Any suggestions for where to get an Optima relatively cheap? Also, what's the difference between the Red and Yellow?

optima is trash. We just had our yellow top take a **** on us...and we only had it about 7 months....luckily it has a one year warranty on it....but one of the dry cells actually blew apart

For weight savings I don't think there is anything lighter than a Braille. Stock batteries are around what 35 pounds? That is alot of weight savings in the engine bay and in the nose.

If you do get it I want to know how you like it. Your probably going to have to fab a bracket for it.

Other than weight savings I don't think there are any other differences. With the Braille though it might crank a little slow when its fridged out. I think its around 360 CCA's @ 0Degrees or something like that.

I told them my lights dimmed when i put my foot on the break or rolled the window down. they tested it in front of me and it was reading less then 12v. they put a new one in. then i returned the optima i payed 100 bucks for.

The you need to get the Braille battery.

what he said... had one in the sti and now it's in my rs - still running strong.

i'd recommend running a grounding system though or at least a few more grounds than stock.
