View Full Version : Help plz: can somone w/new STi do penny test?
I had a flat after the crab run the other day and need a baseline to decide if I can buy just 2 tires or if I have to buy 4. (1 to replace the dead one and the other to even out the differential on the other side)
I dont know anyone with a new STi so i'm turning to my peers on here. If you have an STi with not many miles on it (<500-1000) can you please do the penny test and tell me how it measures up?
I really appretiate it

Criz, I'll look at lunch (~3pm) if nobody responds first. However, I'm at about 9k on my re070's.
9k is cool... better than what I have!
thanks Arron!

Chris: I'd say I'm at about the middle of Lincoln's ear. Get me an email addy and I'll send you the pic. I can't host it at work.
its OK... i dont need a pic
you have a set of 4 RE70s not being used? how come?
I looked up the tred wear on tirerack for the RE70s and it is 140! That is horrible! I'm starting to get set on the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2 because they have excellent reviews (even from STi owners) and they have a much better tred wear at 300

Picked up a set of wheels with all-season tires mounted on them. While I was there, I wheeled and dealed for the used stockers. Now I officially have 4 sets of tires, two sets of wheels, and no room for any of them. I'd rather sell my extra all-season's, I think, and enjoy the summers without worrying about treadwear.

I saw your tires at the run. I think you really should replace all 4.

I definetly say go with the kdw 2s. Mine were absolutely  before they decided to go pop. I have 2 replacements coming from tire rack asap. I can't imagine what they'll be like with AWD.

awesome! thanks for helping me seal the deal on that decision
ordered the KDW-2s today from tirerack... can't wait to be back in business!
