I need to install a complete set of Tein S-Tech springs on my 04 wrx and i need some help. simply put: i need someone who knows how to do it! I have a double car garage to use for the install but i need the jack stands, wrenches, etc. . . for the job.
I would like to do this ASAP & tomorrow afternoon (friday) or this saturday is the first availible day i have. anyone who could help would be great. lunch / dinner will be provided & any & all are welcome to attend.
Who can help?
PLEASE!!!!! I have no patience when it comes to sitting on uninstalled parts.

I can help, i have work until about 3 or 4 on saturday but can help after. I can get jack stands and all that good stuff from my frined. We can also throw the strut bar on. I plan on buying a downpipe tomorrow and i already have my new rotors. We could get an install fest going. Whos in, teh mike and pete i know you both are down!!!

if it turns into an install fest: so be it!
saturday during the day or tomorrow night is best for me, i actually have plans for saturday night so we would have to be done by 6-7 pm.
tomorrow (friday) is also open for as long as it takes after 4:00 pm
sunday is out though, unless we dont get started until 8PM
Friday we wouldnt be able to start until after 4, but we could work into the night for as long as it takes.
i live 5 min from red robin so we could meet there & caravan to my house from there.
so whats it gonna be?

i would suggest starting earlyish on saturday... installs always take longer than planned and if you need the car running by 7-8 then make sure to give yourself plenty of time. if all goes well it should really only take a couple hours start to finish. whats your tool selection looking like? air tools would be nice, and big breaker bar is necessary.
i will be available and will be happy to help so let me know what you decide to do...

tool cache is minor at best: hydraulic rolling jack, stock screw type jack, SAE & Metric ratchet set. Hammer & other misc tools but not much else. i can probably get access to a snap on cordless impact gun as well as a wrench set & torque wrench. any other required items for the install will have to come form someone else.
who has what?
as of now its looking like it will be saturday afternoon.
any other imput? if u think u can make it, please say so in your post & also be sure to say what tools you can bring to make this install as easy as possible.

i'd recommend that the install is underway by 10-11am at the latest. i have to stress that it is very rare for an install to go exactly as planned and only take the amount of time that you expect it to. i dont want you to be rushing around at 4pm freaking out cause your car isnt back together.
i have a 3/8" drive breaker bar... its maybe 16" long or so.
if you can score that impact wrench then that would speed the process up quite a bit. if not then we have to get creative with a vice grip and some allen keys. i wont get into that unless i have to though...
we really dont NEED spring compressors, as i watched two spring installs in a row recently where they did it without them without much difficulty. it went much faster that way. if you need them chris with the white sti has some though...

derf...gimme a call when your done work. i got nothin to do tonite so Ill stop by and we can knock this out. If you dont have a spring compressor, go to Autozone and rent one. When i did mine we didnt have a compressor and it was the hardest task ever to get the tophats on. Anyways i have a 1/2 drive 24in breaker bar that will make those strut bolts run in fear.

Spring compressors are flor little girls like Pete. I did my springs, same as derfs, and it was cake. It took us start to finish about an hour and a half and thate because we took it for a test drive and foud out we never tightened the rear passanger top hat fully so it was makin noises. Only thing i do suggest is getting a marker and marking the top hat and the perch so you know what direction it faces. Makes the instal virtually idiot proof.
P.S. i just bought my Helix down pipe and would appreciater any help i could recieve, i dont even care if you actually help as long as im in a garage!!

ugh. downpipe are NO FUN! gota take of the IC brackets and IC. And getting the IC inlet y-hose back on takes work. But we can manage. Matt if you want to do this tonite when i goto derfs...get to subaru now and buy a new gaskets. This is gona be fun....
-Pete
PS: spring compressors are for bishes, but it makes things easier. HAHA i did the same thing with one of the tophaps...i was like "WTF is clicking". due to this....ill bring the torque wrench

the dp should have come with brackets in the box, so you can just use those. i can be there from 4-6 or so but gotta bounce after that.
matt- when you drive to freds do it gently so the turbo isnt spinning any faster than it needs to be... that way we wont burn ourselves doing the dp.

going off topic in a thread is also against the rules... now that you have committed 3 offenses, you are risking some serious repurcussions.
however, since i would probably getting a lot of crap for ditching such a rare commodity around here from the other members, i will make an exception just this once.
