Lately i've been hearing awkward sounds from the engine area when i accelerate lightly. I know for sure it's not anywhere else in the drive train or wheels. I live in NYC so i drive down city blocks and i can hear the slight ticking echoing from the side when i have my windows open. It doesn't happen every time i accelerate but it does happen quite often (if i go from a stop). Happens usually around 1k-2.5k RPM at low throttle.. Is it knocking? What's going on?

BTW:
I change my oil no later than 3500 miles with OEM oil filters. I use Mobile 1 (forgot which weight). Tranny fluid was recently drained and replaced with OEM tranny fluid. Around 85k miles. 91 or 93 Octane. I also use OEM Nissan filters so i did not clog the MAF with K&N cleaning oil.

Could be an exhaust leak

I have been hearing of alot of problems with the vq35's lately. I think its a problem in the timing chain region. I cant remember off the top of my head.

I think it may be one of the sensors.
