My best time at the time was at Super Chevy a couple months back at Maple Grove with my camaro. Then it was a 12.01. The car was then running 12.10s the weekends after. Realized I needed to add some tranny fluid because it had been leaking slowly while it sits in between weekends it runs. Well this weekend the best run was 11.76. The car could probably still be tuned and pick up even more. Just happy I am finally now in the 11s.

Nah Mark no video of the runs. But then again my friend's grandmother might have one since her grandmother always tapes her and her bro run.

nice, almost time for a cage.

And that is exactly what I'm trying to avoid at the time. That is what will most likely keep me from making it go any faster than 11.50. There is a lot I can do especially with the suspension but I'd rather keep that stock right now.

Mike that was with the '85 camaro. Don't worry I will let you know when the '69 is done and out on the track. But the 60' was 1.615 and the 1/8th mile was 7.503. The car is pulling some good mph at 115. Was actually almost 116.

LOL Rob, I'm not worried. I wish I could cut shorty like that.

HickRocket1258

Yeah it gives me a nice push off the line. Cuts some crazy 60's. I like how I have the 3.90s instead of 4.10s for the rear. Gives me a little more top end than some of the other cars running around the same time. I know someone running a few tenths faster yet I have about one or two more mph than them.

Most races are won on the 1st 60 feet and I am sure you know that with all the time you put in at the track. But I thought if you're not topping out your motor than 4.10 would give you more trap speed also.

buy my headers and get the mustang up there too.

Mike I wish I could explain it to you but I wouldn't know the exact explanation for it. But from what I have been learning, you will get the edge on E.T. right out of the gate but top end is slacking. I would get a little more mph but not the same E.T. I don't really know how to explain though. Plus the car is around 6500 now at the stripe, and any more gear and it will be whining almost too high.

And Primer Suspect I will get them from you, it's just taking me a little longer now that school has started up again for me.

Congrats...I'm soon to be working on an LS1 swap into a 93 S10 Blazer, and shooting for 11's to start with. Should be fun, just need to find a decent LS1 to start with. lol

Nice job Rob. ... you suck.

I'm sure he is doing it into a blazer because you don't see it often Doug. And thanks. Hopefully it'll be around 11.50s by the end of the year.

if your right around redline through the traps than your at your optimal rear end ratio (i have 3.91's as well in the GTO) but im suprised that your at 6500 when your only trapping 115-116. what kinda trans do you have in it? nice times either way congrats

thats faster than my heap on motor:lol:

what was the da'? or at least the temp.. i trap about the same (motor) but can't pull that type of 60' for some reason, my car doesn't have enough gear/motor/converter to do it. it lacks power/tq out of the hole.

what im trying to figure out is how you gained around .3, unless you 60'ed better or the da' was a LOT lower or you did something with your driving or the car. i have gained .3 or more from weather so that is something to consider when it gets cooler out you could see an 11.50.

either way good runs.

Sleeper the adjusted altitude (we don't get da) was about 1000-1200 the whole weekend. Temp was around 70-79 the whole weekend when running as well. Barometric pressure was around 29.50s and humidity changed from 40-60 all weekend. I have a turbo 350 in the car with a 3000 stall converter which isn't even much converter at all. Honestly with having as little tranny fluid as I did and adding enough in helped probably a tenth or a little more. I also had a good family friend who works for Bill Jenkins look at the carb, so I don't know if it had to do with the little adjustment as well. The car probably has more in it if the carb was tuned right but for a stock suspension car I'm kind of happy. I only put it in drive too because I don't want to mess around with the shifting yet.

no i'd bet the 3k stall is holding you back big-time, and if it isn't you picked the wrong cam/heads for that car since you don't really street drive it (i think you don't?) 3000 stall is nothing, almost stock. im even more impressed you 60' like that with a little stall and THAT is why you have your mph-- low stall speed= more mph since it's more efficient on the big end but not as great acceleration/60' in most cases. for your setup you COULD be dead-on but i doubt it with such a low stall-speed.

either way good runs and you should hit up atco when the da' is close to 0 or sometimes it goes to - da'. that is when you run the #'s on motor..

Yeah the stall is little for the setup in that car. It could be street driven but I prefer not to the way the setup with the exhaust is. If you ever went to a bracket race at Maple Grove you would definetly see me there. I wouldn't bother to travel to Atco til next year probably. And yes Mike I should go on a diet, not the car. I weighed the car one time with a gallon or two of gas in it and I believe it was around 3200 without me in it which I was surprised. They didn't take heater box and A/C out but the car still has full interior. Although there is aluminum heads and all too so that could be the reason as well.

if the setup could use more converter- GIVE it more converter:lol:

Haha well when you want to do that you need money, which I don't have because there is a couple big races coming up in October. Got a 10k and 5k race in October. Need to save up money for that. In the future I'm sure I will get more converter. How was your car doing on motor and 60s?

How was your car doing on motor and 60s?

absolutly horrible. car is not set up right for motor at all- low 1.8's and mid to high 1.7's. it dips into the 11's usually if i get low 1.7's or into the 1.6's on motor, but it is all weather dependent. the cooler out it gets the better the car 60's. it does not spin, rather it doesn't hit hard enough out of the hole to do any better. i hate it, drives me nuts.

good luck with those races. maybe you'll win some $$$ to buy more **** for the car.

Petey it feels great getting into the 11s especially when you have a 12.01. And sleeper you can guarentee I will get more **** for the car if I win any money at all. Cept you have to go about 10 rounds or so to win the race. As long as I keep pulling .00xs like I did this past weekend I think I'll be ok. I just want to run it when it is in 60 degree weather.

is it on a pro tree or sportsman? .00x's are impressive, and if you are in a footbrake class you got a good chance of walking away with some lute imho. i was thinking since my car is a turd on motor, i was gonna try to do the 12.00 index at atco but i said the same thing last year and never even tried it:lol:. a good light for me is like a .1xx  haha and the index racing is on a pro-tree so i would be pretty new at it.

HickRocket1258

It was on a full tree, sportsman as you call it. I was looking at doing the Atco 12.00 next year but now it looks like I'll either have to find a way to slow the car down or just not do it haha.

easier to slow it down than make it faster:mrgreen: knock some timing out of it, i think a good amount of the guys that run the 12.00 index are slightly faster than 12.00, and they dial the cars down/drive them differently. that way if you screw up a light or the other guy is dead on you can still win the round.
