So I just had my rear rotors replaced and whenever I wash the car they get rust all over them. My front rotors don't really do it as much. I've seen this on plenty of other cars such as my dad's g37 but some of the rust doesn't want to leave on my rotors when I drive it.
Does it matter if it stays on there or should I clean it off each time I wash it? Buy brake cleaner?

It's fine.

Rotors are made from cast iron alloys--- iron rusts.

After a couple of normal speed stops the rust will be gone. For whatever reason my rear rotors tend to get surface rust faster then the fronts. Again, it's not a huge deal.

Yeah most of it comes off with barely any braking but there's some that doesn't touch the brake pads and stays on there for a while.
I was wondering if that stayed on there for along time would it hurt it or not.

The rotors are pretty tuff, so no. It would probably take a while for the rust to eat through a 1/2" of cast iron! :)

if you leave the car outside for an extended amount of time the same thing will happen... just ease on the brakes a bit to work it off when you move the car... its no real problem

Hell my factory srt rotors rust completely by the time it takes me to dry off one side of the car after washing it. I just thought it was cause it was a neon.
