I see we have some other supras here. and a ae86. one day I will have one. I'm defininly ready for a meet. I think we have enough. my motor has been rebuilt. Arp head bolt, hks MHG, new rods, crank and piston rings bottom end is soild. car is broke in well. only thing to do now is to fix the top. lifters need ajustment. It's not bad but after a rebuld you don't want to here anything.
I'm trying to get some help with it but most people i know don't mess with heads. My uncle has a shop but he's old school. he helps me alot.

That's my story.

Any ideas on a good meet spot?

But my exhaust header might be cracked. I'm gonna check it out today. hopfully thats the answer. if it is It's a good excuse to upgrade turbo.

if not that it's the rodknock.

but some screws are loose on the headers and my exhaust was broken off by a low spot.
may toyota have mercy on my soul:rotfl:

I went to the kop meet and a toyota guru helped me. I met some cool toyota guys there. 2 mr2's and a 95 celica all-track convesion.( toyota guru, compared to me).

Yould think that, but with a supra, you want to make sure everything else is 100% set before upgrading your turbo. More boost will exacerbate any other problems in your system, so be sure everythings set first.

What turbo upgrade would you be looking at? 50, 54, 57 trim? or bigger turbo?

I'm also unsure as to what mods you have, but again, turning up the boost, or upgrading a turbo should be one of the last mods you do in my opinion. Make sure your intake/exhaust is setup before hand. Injectors/AFM if you're going the lex/550/255lh route (MAFT or equivalent). And if you're getting a bigger turbo, make sure you have yourself a good boost controller and I think a tuning device is in order.

If you don't want to blow your engine, make sure you do it right. Are you still running the stock BOV? If so, upgrade that, and make sure you have it recirculating if you need that.

Spoken like a true mk3 supra owner. Most likley if i'm at the point of upgrading turbo I will do supporting mods first.

I want a .57 vpc 550's injectors, gauges and safc. My uncle has a shop where I can make my own exhaust. most likly i will do it all at the same time. if not, gauges, vpc and injectors then .57 trim turbo. I blown my motor once but, twice would be unbearable.

note to suprarice: add the lexus v8 afm, or the LIPP AFM to that list
http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/price/Toyota/Supra_86-92/LIPP/Intakes/Air_Flow_Meters
if you're going to 550s, you'll need to upgrade the AFM to allow 25% more airflow, to even out with 25% more fuel. Instead of the SAFC i'ld go for the MAFT-2 or the MAFTpro. Both seem to offer a more comprehensive system. If you're running 25% more air, and 25% more fuel, you've gotta make sure you can fill out that fuel, so upgrading the fuel pump (and fuel rail) is important too Walbro 255lph is the way to go. And once again, if you're still on the stock BOV, change that immedietly. If you stay Mass Air (which you're doing unless you get the Maft with speed density setup) you'll need a recirculating BOV. The HKS SSQV is a great recirc. If you go for the Maft with speed density, get the tial 50mm bov. Either is a good precautionary step to ensuring max engine life.

if you're looking for where to get this stuff:
suprastore.com suprasport.com horsepowerfreaks.com 935motorsports.com are the places to look.

AH HA! A 1j guy. I been looking at that swap for a while. this winter I'm going to do somthing big. did you 1j yourself?

No I bought it like this. I had a NA 89 first that I was modding to swap in a 7mgte but then quickly realized my goals required a better platform of a car in general. So then I bought this one because it was ahead of where I was at. 1J is definitely not a bad decision if you want to make good power on stock internals...

I do not believe that you can say one motor is better than another but this one has its advantages over the gte in certain areas. I cant wait to get my single on and move forward!

If you go 1J, personally I just buy one in a car already swapped....bound to save money in the long run

i may end up philly one sunday over the next few weeks to pickup a new driver side door, I probably won't have tons of time to stay, and will probably not have the supra with me since transporting the door in her won't be the easiest thing, but if time and place permits i'ld love to stop by the sunday meet if they're still going on a weekly basis

What You Plan To Get Done?

Well, I was looking for someone who KNOWS how to install performance clutches, but I have changed my route, and would be doing the clutch later than sooner I hope... But the Supra will be unleashed this spring with BPU mods:

3" RMM dp
Aftermarket cat back (still don't know which one)
Hallmans or Joe P MBC
Greddy BCC
Autometer (maybe??) boost/vac gauge

Later:
FMIC (when I get the money)
HKS SSQ BOV
Upgraded clutch (ACT or RPS)

I also have some peeling clearcoat issues on my driver's side that I would like to get resolved for a reasonable rate or a DIY (most likely impossible), but would get the car repainted in a couple years anyway. That's about it for now...

since you have a mk4 you will need a wideband. I would get one with a narrowband on it (aem wideband) that way you can take it to the dino.
I wiill let you know of a place that work on your car specf. Im a mk3 Those mk4 will cost you a butt hole and a leg. now I just want that motor.

Well I don't really need a wideband... If you have BPU, there is really nothing else you need. Even though it will be nice to squeeze every little hp out of the car, I just want a little more power and I'm sure car will be fine :) You can take it to the dyno, maybe a few hp less, and that's fine with me. When I go single (which is probably more of a big IF since BPU supras fetch much more than singled) then I will get some sort of engine management.

correct, dun need a wideband just yet. If you pulling much more fuel or adding when tuning thats when a wb will come in handy. Anyways welcome.

I just got my accordian replacement hardpipe setup. Nothing too major as far as improvements go, but much prettier, and it doesnt now, nor will it ever have a crack in it like the one it replaced! I cannot wait for the post-christmas-time money to roll in, alongside my bonus so that I can finish my exhaust with a downpipe and test pipe, and new cat, since I dont think i'll pass emissions with the one I have now.

Next month I would like to start a meet. Hopefully everyone can make it. It will be for toyota guys. We should have a stronger group. I was thinking of having it in the city. on the weekends a school lot behind my house is open. there we can look at each other's cars or do minnor repairs and I'll have some snaks n beverages. my treat. I'm just looking for some toyota diehards to hang out with. It might be too cold now but it's a start.
