Hey guys, i was just wondering if anyone here as access to a scan tool to see why my CEL is on. I am located in coatesville. My car isnt running any different, which makes me think that its a failing cat code. but i passed inspection with it before w/ no codes. i have a feeling its just a stupid sensor or something that is failing on me. Let me know, i would rather throw someone on here a few bucks than a dealer. the dealer charges 40 bucks just to diagnose it. If you are far from coatesville then don't bother responding, i don't wanna drive 45 minutes to figure this out
thanks bill

Here is what my CEL said as per autozone
Definition
Fuel trim bank one (poss. safcII)
Explanation
The powertrain control module uses the oxygen sensor to calculate the a/f ration of the engine. The computer has recognized a rich or lea condition in one engine bank only.
probable Causes
1. If bank one and two codes set together suspect fuel pressure or MAF sensor
2. Oxygen sensor defective (unlikely, i replaced it about a year and a half ago)
3. Ignition misfire repair (unlikely, i replaced the plugs and wires 3k miles ago, plus the car runs smooth)
4. Fuel injector problem. (possible, i upgraded the turbo, running 16psi my stock injectors 450cc's are being maxxed out)
chime in, tell me what you guys think

its sometimes cause by holding partial boost for a prolonged period of time

I got that exact error before...front o2 sensor. Try taking out of the front o2, cleaning it off with brake cleaner, plug it back in, and see if the CEL goes off. Usually running rich conditions or C16/race gas will kill your o2 sensors. Are you using OEM or Bosch? (Stick with OEM for o2 sensors)

i've got all oem o2 sensors. i got the exact same error code about 2 years ago and i had to replace it, i'll try taking it out and cleaning it up

i've got a feeling that it may have fixed itself, but the light is still on. about a week ago my a/f gauge was reading dead rich 2 nights in a row on my way to work, then the engine light came on. But now its reading just fine and normal, i am just gonna reset the ecu and see if it comes back on

It never "fixes itself" in a DSM....

i think it may have though...i know what you mean though. if the CEL comes back on then i'll just replace the o2 sensor.

If it comes on again take a look at it. Running rich will foul it most definitely. I got away with brake cleaning the hell out of mine for awhile.

little update, well i reset my ecu about 2 weeks ago, about a week later bam...CEL is back on. I hadn't gotten around to fixing it yet and the car was still running great...well today i went over to the verizon store to start up a plan with them, finish that up start my car and VUALA No CEL. Who says dsm's don't fix themselves
The plan as of now is to do some maintainance...oil change, fuel filter, put the evo 8 intercooler on with my new extreme psi j pipe for fmic. Fix the door handle and officially put the car up for sale. I found a few evo's that i am interested in purchasing. I found a 03' WW w/ 64,800 miles with a few mods in OC for 18.5k, an 04 BBY w/ 40k miles for 21k w/ a few mods, and an 05 EB evo w/ 36k miles for 23,900 that is bone stock. i don't know which way i'm gonna go yet. I looked into sti's but i just lean toward the evo's.
