So I just moved to the Philly area and I was looking for a good Ford mechanic to work on my Contour SVT. Anyone know of one? The car is running ok now, but it's up for inspection soon and it will need an emissions test so I will have to get some work done to it. Thanks.

I only take my car to Wicked Motorsports. Owner is Kevin and he is a Ford/Mustang freak lol. Loves working on cars and I will swear by his work. He is located in Brick, NJ, but if you don't mind the drive, he'd be a great person to talk to.

Well its about an hour and a half away from me, but if his work is as good as you say it is I wouldn't mind the trip. Do you have a number for Wicked?

Anyone know of any others?

Are you looking specifically for performance work? or just inspection stuff?

As of right now just inspection/general work. I plan on selling the car soon so I doubt I will be doing anymore mods to it.

Thanks Mark. I really appreciate it.

Thats cool but I think he is just looking for general work for his car. But I'm lazy, I'd let someone come to me haha.

Yeah I'm just looking for general work if I need it. I also don't have a garage or a floor jack. Plus my apt complex frowns upon people doing any work on their cars in the parking lots.

Have him give me a quote for the labor on a timing belt for my SVT Focus. I can do the water pump and everything else. Just dont like messing with cam and crank positions.

No it was a guy from outside the Harrisburg area. I told him about here, but I doubt he will join. He mainly just stays on Contour.org. He was a nice guy, who really seemed like he was going to take care of the car which made me feel a little better while selling it. I really do miss it though......but I have a replacement on the way and will be in my hands by Monday and I should be at the KOP meet around 9 on Tuesday.

First....**** You.

Second.... With or without VCT?....have to be careful with that exhaust cam sprocket or you could easily bend a valve when you crank the car back on after doing the timing belt. Only other VCT Zetecs besides and SVT focus was that ZX2 SP edition.

Third....you're a douche. :)

1. there is no SP edition
2. all ZX2's have VCT on the intake.
3. so did newer contours
4. SVT was the LAST zetec to get VCT

Learn your Zetecs. :)

Good call...I dont know why I said SP....maybe I was thinking SAP from the newer Foci...it was the S/R? SR? my bad on the VCT...i thought VCT was only on that SR package. Didnt know it was on all ZX2s.

Lately been pondering trading in my SVTF to find a focus with the 2.3L that was only out for a year. Hard to find....especially in a 5 speed. Those duratecs take better to mods.

dont bother unless you want to do heavy mods to it. I was beating them at the track when my escort was stock.

You better keep your SVT or I'll smack you lol. Or at least trade it in for a Cobra or something

Trade your SVT for a Saab with a 2.3 Turbo!

I'm really missing my Contour SVT. Don't get me wrong I like my Aero, but I miss the uniqueness of the SVT's.

oh and Zetecs are non-interferance

Charged SVTF

Me and you are going to go back and forth all day lol. SVT Foci have 10.1:1 Compression and as a result are considered interference motors. Thats one of the problems with my car (other than being a Focus), some dealers and service centers dont have updated catalogs or information about the car. Wrong parts get ordered all the time for service. Sucks.

More on Zetecs plenty of non-interference versions have had valves bend when a timing belt failed. And actually for that matter some SVTFs have escaped without head damage when a timing belt broke. Very awkward and I guess how things just turn out.

Typical Ford. Can't even get things to break right lol.

Its ford...faster when broken.....

Most valve problems on a zetec are due to having a cam over over .400, a 10.1 shouldn't make you interference. Maybe the fact you have the higher comp AND more aggressive cams.
