The race season is about to start, so wouldnt it be fun to encourage a little competitive spirit on the forum? Who is gonna be the drag king of TST this year?
In order to officially submit a time, you must post or email me a copy of the timeslip with your TST username handwritten at the bottom (to prove its yours). Only times run this season will be considered. I will either keep a record in the first post of this thread, or if it gets more involved I will keep an official chart on a webpage. Again... no time slip, no official time.
Good luck to everyone this year!

I'm not quite sure what I'm gonna hit this season.
I'm gunning for 11s (yes, in fwd fashion). We'll see if I can muster everything together. Motor is almost a check, built trans/lsd still need, slicks still need, SC61 still need, EMS still need, dammit the list just keeps growing... :(

Ive never ran the 1/4 before but ill give it a go. I know i wont even be close to the top of the list but thats ok. to make it really interesting we shoud do some kind of bracket racing. That way us guys with the less modded cars can still talk trash for being better drives then people with more power. Not saying im a better driver, this will just help the competative spirit.

ixlr811s, Did you go to the 2.4? If so and with a bigger turbo I expect 10's out of that dsm :prayer:
As for me, my best is a 12.6 but I just got a shiny new blue bottle so we'll see what that brings

ixlr811s
02-23-2005, 12:28 AM
nah. 2.3 the 2.4 was more hassle than it's worth. you have to grind away the underside of the block for the rods to clear, get a new timing belt etc. I don't think the .1 liter is going to make that much of a difference. 10's would be great, I probably won't get the car there. I'm not exactly the best driver. I have the SBR GT14 ball bearing turbo. The car is definately capable of 10's.... with the right tuning.

I ran the TA on friday night at Cecil.... no tuning, no tires, nothing, just pulled off the highway and into the lanes, got one run and went home. Remember this: 1979 Pontiac Trans Am, ~4100# w/driver, 400 Pontiac, 8.5:1 CR, headers dual exhaust, TH350 w/shiftkit, 2.73 Posi rear on 235/60/R15s. I think it was a late 80's notchback with slicks. Ladyrx7 told me he broke at the line, but I don't get why he even finished the run.
All of my runs where against mustangs that night except for one Black EVO with a lancer wing that ran a 12.3@115 with a 1.9 60', very fast car and cool guy as well. Didn't get a chance to ask what he had done.

Saturn boys have a lot to learn. You can have a 10.0 reaction and still run 10s. The 1/4 time starts when you cross the beam. Not when the green light goes off.

when you're bracket racing your RT factors into your overall time, but when you're just going heads up its got nothing to do with it, like the others said.

Turn up the boost.
Classic line!
Inside joke with turbo saturns was that Ian (426whp) told Sam (290whp) to just "Turn up the boost". Needless to say, Sam finally did and exploded a piston.
Well, duh.

i hear that, its the reason i havent taken my WRX to the strip. having to buy a new tranny would break me. i just know if i went i would have an intense internal struggle to drive the car full on and see what time i can run, or not launch it and run a second or more slower than its capable of. oh well...

i'm embarrased to post my timeslips since i had a boost problem and ran pretty much the same trap speed as 3 years ago(108) but time improved to 12.9
I know its not that bad specially since i had 6 to 8 psi when i should have been at least at 10 but thats just low everyday boost...cant wait to crank up the boost and see what 15+ psi gets me into, 11s maybe????
i'm too lazy to dig up my time slip right now maybe next visit i'll scan it...

My car is a 2004, and I will have to dig up the timeslips to find the date. I think it was late may early june but I can't remember for sure. I will have better times on the 20th though. I turned the boost up and installed motor mounts, so I will definantly be in the 13s. I just need to find somebody to let me borrow some slicks and I could have low 13s. I don't go enough to justify buying a set of my own.
