Like the title says, what is required to get your pro drag liscense? also any place local to get it?

What kind of stuff are you talking about? You have to get a racer with a liscence and a manager at a track to sign a paper. And then you make 60' passes, half track and so on. It's a process.

What license are you trying to get? Your nine second license? Or are you trying to drive a rail car or funny car? You need to be a little more descriptive. I would hope and think if you were going for your nine second license you would have an idea what to do. But you will first need to download the form from NHRA website. Get a physical, go to the track and make three half passes and then 3 full passes that are witnessed from three people with their nine second license. You then need to have that form signed off and send it into NHRA with the fee.

Let me know when you are going for it. I am going to try and get mine before NOPI NH which is Aug 4-5. I am going to get a few guys together that have their 9 sec licence to come to the track to sign off on my form. Just as an FYI you don't need to go 9's on your pass you need to go over 135 since the rule that NDRA is enforcing this year is 135 or 9's and they require a licence. I have heard that NHRA is still letting you slide without the 9 sec license if you go over 135 but are not hitting a 9.

Also make sure you have all your saftey equipment. Not sure on the class you are running for NOPI but for Pro 4 besides the normal saftey stuff (roll cage, belts, fire suit, SFI clutch/flywheel, and dampner, window net, chute) I also needed a fire suspression system, Hans device, catch pan with 2 inch lip)

Also forgot to ask most of the time you can not do your runs at the events. So try and get it done before an event. The way this season is going you will be protested if you don't have your license.

Go to a weekly bracket racing deal at some local tracks and they usually will have time for guys getting their liscence.

you go to atco and make 6 , 9 second passes at 135+mph ..it cost $75 for the lic passes .you need to download the form from the nhra and get a physical from your doctor before you can make the passes ..you need a car that meets all the tech reqirements and a helmet that is 2000 or 2005 rated .98 are no longer accepted .you need neck collar ,fire suite ,window net, gloves ,on off switch for the motor in the rear of the car ,up to date sfi seat belts ,aftermarket tranny sfi approved or an sfi approved scatter sheild ,balancer ,flexplate ...the fuel pressur regulator cannot be mounted on the fire wall, rim of the fuel cell must be grounded ,battery must be in a sealed box with a vent tube if its not in the engine compartment ..ect..
then lastly you need to know how to drive .....ha!ha!

the kit was pretty exspensive, i dont think it was 5k tho. more like 3k with everything.
