Hey gang,

Work at a car dealership by myself and the owner's bought an EVO 8. Might be a car some of you are familiar with on this website. Car was originally from Michigan and then was registered in Warminster, PA. Black 2003 EVO 8. Has "In the Spirit of Competition" on the hood. HKS EVC Boost Controller, EGT Gauge, HKS Hi Power Exhaust and other things not visible to me.

Well the car came in running great minus a high clutch release or aftermarket clutch. When it went out to detail, the controller was registering Vacuum and boost. When it came back....the gauge showed max boost limit i guess but it was pegged at zero below that! No Vacuum or Boost. The interesting part here is I guess the boost gauge in the pillar is using a different vacuum line? It still shows vacuum and boost. I am a newb to turbos and boost controllers. Please help. Here is the HKS EVC equipement.

Anyone know where I should start looking to get the controller back up and running? New to turbo cars. No clue. Thank you!

Thanks Tri State Gang,

~Tim

You being serious or sarcastic. I am very hesitant to start button mashing and seeing if i can get it to register vacuum and boost again. I just want to pound the driver that drove it to detail and back.

can you just take it for a spin around the block and see what it does?

Drives like a dog. Slow as hell. Totally different than when I drove it end of last week.

You can still hear the turbo, still hear the blow off....but the car just does not drive like it should. Also has a rough idle during warm up now compared to the end of last week.

check all the lines coming off of the evc stepping motor which should be located along the firewall in the engine bay. if the car isnt making boost this could be a reason.

This is why I prefer a MBC. Forge UNOS all the way.

o sorry im being very serious, at least for me. I recently worked on a TT G35. The owner had the EVC installed, as we were trying to tune it, it would only hit 5 psi where we wanted 7, no matter what we tried we couldnt get it off factory settings. It is a very comples piece of equipment in my eyes, maybe not for some1 else.

Thanks guys....ill keep looking today and try to find a solution. I am getting offers on the car as far south as Georgia. The car is online for 18,995 and it seems like everyone wants it.....but it is GIMPY right now lol.

I'll give someone some money if they came and fixed the problem. Even if its a simple vacuum line that i am not seeing or something along that nature. It just needs to be fixed.

This is why i like superchargers.....slap them on and drive off lol.

Uh yea, I did say I was a newb about turbos. So the APS 50/50 Blow off valve is missing its adjustment screw. So basically its the source of a huge boost leak and not allowing it to spool up above 15psi. Investigating just purchasing a stock BPV blowoff as we speak.
