I don't know much about these cars since I'm a subaru guy but am interested... I did drive EVO VI TME back home and it was quite fun, so something to consider in future perhaps :)
I am interested mostly about driveilne, engine in particular.... what turbo is it running (MRs are twin scroll??), what is the compression, flow rates yada yada
basically anything you know and willing to share :)

good read

back home is Moscow

alright, I just had an argue with an EVO owner, he was trying to convince me that those things can shoot 11s with the STOCK 16g (of course cams and other internals) but damm, I am very sceptical that this turbo can flow that much

I believe we have one that just did it...tuned, of course.

Many people have gone 11's with the stock turbo, if your looking for an evo check out my for sale thread.

Then you need to keep on reading...with the proper supporting mods and tuning 11's can be broken into. There are a couple DSMer's who own the early Eclipse/Talon/Lasers (90-94) who have the 16g turbo that have broken into the 11's with that turbo. Heck, with the stock turbo that they come with (14B) people have gotten into the low 12's. Mitsu' turbos have much potential if the right ugprade path/tuning is used.

Believe it or not, Curt brown runs 10s on his stock turbo, no nitrous evo.

Engine: 4g63
Compression: 8.5:1
Turbo: twin scroll 16G. Larger exhaust housing than the one that is a common upgrade for the DSMs.

10s have been run no Nitrous on the stock turbo. 11s (low) have been run on the stock 1G turbo, the 14B.

wow  I'm impressed

how much boost can the stock engine with that compression handle with that turbo with proper EM?

Tuned well? 30 psi or more. Race gas of course.

EVOs are sick... they just need stronger trannies... (and cruise control)

EVO trannies are not weak at all. I think you are confusing this with another AWD tranny. :P

From what I understand Evo trannies are suppose to be tougher than 1st gen DSM trannies. And 1st gen DSM trannies can go deep into the 11's with a modded stock center diff. Of course there are some that say unmodded they can go deep into the 11's... not mine.

Yea but the engine has to be running to blow a tranny.

the stock block and i think internals are said to hold 30psi the only thing you would have to change is the head gasket supposively you will need a thicker stronger one

^ a guy i know with an evo tranny blew at 20k miles so u tell me preety much thats the only bad thing i have heard other then the loss of power threw the drive train is huge

PaleDSM

One guy blowing a tranny doesn't mean it is weak. Depends on how it is treated. Abuse something it will break. It is also possible that his was just a weak fluke.

You are confusing Eclipse/Talons/Lasers with Evo's....

Same thing. Or atleast close enough.

Mehhhh I dunno...I sure wish I had an Evo motor/setup in my Lambo! (and have it run safely and not heighten the risk of *crankwalk*) -- waits to be flamed
