they should make a tint law if you do tint then you have to consent when a cop pulls you over thats the only reason why they dont wnat tint so cops can see in your car

If you can get a doctor to write you a note that you have light senistivity problems, you can go as dark as you want.

Front 2 untinted, back 3 as dark as you want, in PA. I think it's the same in Joisey.

You're all wrong with PA tint. I just got pulled over not 2 weeks ago and got lectured on the laws, along with a speeding ticket and a too-dark-tint ticket (but not a fix-it)
News flash: Sites don't frequently update with facts!
70% on the front 2, none in the windshield, and the back 3 (or 5 if you have triangles) can be as dark as you want.

from the attorney generals website http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/press/cons_advis/July02.cfm all windows have to be 70% or less

There are so many different percentages that people say are legal and aren't legal. It all depends on how dark your interior is too. If you have black interior and do 50%, it might look the same as doing 35% on tan interior. I have had 35% all the way around and not had a problem. Had 20% all the way around and got pulled over. To me a nice shade of tint is 35%. You take a chance of getting pulled over with any tint. It all depends on how you drive or being at the wrong place at the wrong time. If you drive within the speed limits cops will not really hassle you.
From when I remember (years ago), the tint laws all started when a Philadelphia cop pulled someone over with dark tint for speeding and as he stood outside the car waiting for the "bad guy" to roll down his window he was shot. The cop didn't even know that he had a gun pointed at him until the window was rolled down. This is when laws started getting real strict on tint. Cops were getting nervous about pulling people over that they could not see.

Well, then it's wrong. A cop, who is the one pulling you over, is the one you should listen to. He said all PA cops follow the same general rule. The written law really doesn't matter, since it's the people that interpret it that are going to be stopping you.

Right. It was the fact that he already had to pull me over that he busted out the tint meter.
speaking of tinting, does anyone know of a website that emulates tint percentages?
n/m, here's one

This is the end all be all of bickering because this is the documented law. Weather it's up to those who interpret it or not, doesn't matter. The police do not interpret the law, the courts do. The police enforce it. If the officer doesn't know what he's really talking about, you're still accountable to know the law.
beef? http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/067/chapter175/chap175toc.html
read it. Know when to stick it to the po-po's, cause if they try to nail you on something, hand them the book and tell them to "learn the laws asshole" when your win your court battle.
;) No beef with anyone, just bickering sucks.

In Virginia it's 50% front/side and 35% back/sides & back.
I think mine's a 35% sides and 25% back, on a black car with a light grey interior, it looks a lot lighter than it is. A local guy with a mustang did the same combination - black car, 35% front 25% back, but with a black leather interior, looks 5x darker than mine. Sucks, but at least I doubt I'll get pulled over for just that :)

Don't piss the cop off! If he thinks he knows the law then the guy that he just pulled over has no right trying to teach him. Wait till you get to court to do that....

prolly 20% tint, i have 20% all around with dark interior and never had any problem but i also have a truck and cops dont bother with us trucks. i was driving home on new falls rd one night around 1:30 A.M. and i was behind a cop that was following a ford probe. they drive by acme and this guy in an old dodge pick-up pulls out from the bar swerving in the middle of the road and the cop drove right past the truck as if he was too busy running the tags on the probe. a little off topic but true.
