View Full Version : Took the Vr-4 to atco tonight..stock.

Its a galant vr4 :)

Took a trip to the track today for the first time in the VR-4 (and in an all wheel drive car at that). The car is basically stock. It has an unknown centerforce clutch (or so i was told) and a greddy bov. The car is basically open downpipe because the section of exhaust right after it rusted out leaving about a 5 inch gap. My first run was absolutely horrible. 15.86 @ 90 with a 2.6 (LOL!) 60 ft. Next run was the best, a 14.885 @ 92.54 mph. 2.127 60 ft. That was with a clutch slip at 6k, quick 1-2 shift and WOT 2-3 shift. I stayed in 3rd through the traps. The next two times I tried 6.5k launches and got a 2.1 and 2.2 60 ft, but without WOT shifts i got a 15.0 and 15.1. Not bad, I think for a stock car from 91.

hooked up a homemade boost controller soo should be hittin the track soon with a lil bit more boost. low 14's here i come? (with a better launch hopefully)

My brother ran a 14.001 on 15pounds and a k and n drop in so its defiantly possible.

The orig owner of my first DSM took out his back seats, passenger seat, drop in K&N, and boost controller to 17 psi. The car ran a 12.8. Too bad it never made it to the track again in stock form.

thats my exact mods haha besides a clutch and bov which dont really matter.

its more like a spike to 15 it doesnt hold for ****..but still it feels a bunch faster

I ran a 12.98 in 1256/2000 stock turbo with exhaust, intake, boost control plus porting and race gas..Same car in my sig.Then I got a few more and the fun began with the bigger turbos. I had the stock turbo record when I did it for awhile, but I am sure it is faster nowadays, that was like almost 10 years ago.

Looks nice man. I've been trying to contact you on H-T for awhile now but I gave up. Guess you decided to keep it. Good choice, if not I still want it.
