Yes and it will probably stripe the holes.

uh oh :-\ i better make sure i didnt over tighten those....
if i did damage them the can usually be re-threaded right? the hole might be a little bigger but can be done?

probably wouldnt cross thread, but you could stretch the bolts or even pull the threads out of the holes. not to mention you run the risk of just snaping the heads off the bolts. what bolts are they?

If you were torquing them with a 3 foot breaker bar, yeah, you might wanna loosen them a little. If you were torquing them with you less than a foot rachet, I wouldn't worry about it.

i fu**ed it all up, i went to the hardware store said give me this, not even thinking i have a honda=japanese and i got standard size bolts. so i had to retap the holes with a metric bit and go out again with my dad and find metric bolts. waht a pain is the A$$. so this whole thing ended up taking a very long time and it didnt even fix my problem

man...you suck at life don't ya? haha you can't drill it out and re tap it...or even throw a helicoil in there? what was the stock hardware...if you started with grade 8, then make sure to replace it with that

i wasnt thinking at all about double checking the threads when i asked the guy to get me bolts. the are M8-1.25 and i put some standard size bolt in there and it fit for the first side and the second side had a problem before i even started. thats when i figured out wrong size. so i took the standards out, retaped with metric bits, and put the new M8's in. when i was getting the bolts i wasnt even thinking abotu metric vs US sizes. i still dont understand why us dumb-a$$ americans are the only ones who user certain things like Fahrenhiet and standard, everyone else uses metric. but anyway problem fixed has all metric back in there
