Great day, Chad Block is a stand up guy who knows his ish with UTECs, as far as i have heard and can tell. He really spent a lot of time with my car- i'd say he did at least 20 pulls, plus street tuning, and only charged me for an hour. I am thrilled at the gains and would recommend him to anyone. Only downside to us local peeps is that he is out in York, PA, but to me it's worth the drive for the peace of mind that it's done RIGHT.
woowoo! :supz:

feels great- i def notice the difference in the ol'butt dyno, esp that the power is smoothed out thru the curve- when the utec kicks in there isn't as much of a bucking feeling- very nice!

troll- it was on a mustang dyno. not sure about the ecutek, but you can pm him on nasioc - he's on there as 'CBRD'.

TehWagon
07-11-2005, 10:51 AM
i think, please don't quote me cuz i saw a lot of numbers yesterday, but i think a/f was 14.8 ish???
he kept saying i was spiking at 17 but holding at 13 for boost, but i hit 18 in 5th on my way home...
if i can sway you any, bryan, i'd go with chad. he's a stand up guy who knows his stuff. sure, utec's have drawbacks, but he knows his way around them it sounds like. i blew a coil pack on the dyno (SUCKED) due in large part to txs's stock maps, but he knew how to fix that. plus it's a lasting relationship for other mods, and pricing is VERY fair. he will have a dyno day coming up soon from the sound of it, so you might just want to take a trip up and chat with/observe him and see what you think.

hey ash,
after reading this thread i got in touch with chad... he said he tunes for about 11.1 on WRXs and 10.8 on STis normally for AFR. said your boost was hitting 17 but holding at 16 for the most part, tapering to 13 at redline.
he also told me that stock WRXs hit 145-150 hp on his dyno, so 218 is a HUGE difference... i'm really impressed.

Greddy Spec 2 is a good unit, but I don't think that will cure your problem. Going to a bigger turbo will help with boost not falling of on the top end.

TROLL
07-11-2005, 02:14 PM
for the most part mechanical and electronic boost controllers will perform the same duty, where they vary is in the convenience of changing them. regardless, the boost she's seeing has nothing to do with the boost controller, its the nature of the turbo... it cant flow enough at high RPMs to hold boost, and further our stock injectors are maxing out up there so you have to taper boost a bit so the fuel can keep up.

most good ebcs do, however they don't have the analog range like a normal gauge which i like...
i like seeing the gauge needle move instead of concentrating on numbers especially since they change so quickly...

contrary to what troll stated, good EBCs can really help with spooling times and with control (some better than others). But there are alot of guys out there who swear by MBC's so its really up to you to try them out

:cyberguy:
Sooo, i was on my way home from getting tuned, and i wasn't even out of York yet when some ricey looking rsx with decals and a fart can revs on me like he wants some. So at first i'm thinking 'bah, i'm not going to waste my gas on that guy' (nothing against rsx's of course, just against ricey stuff) ... and then when he blew by me in the right lane, i had a chance of heart, figured i'd test out the new tune and blow his doors off.
So i get around the traffic and pull up along side him, he slows down, and we go from a roll (we never broke the speed limit, of course)... and instead of blowing his preverbial doors off, i just about kept up with him! and as i was doing so, i heard that all-too-familiar whine... yes, folks, that emmer effer was supercharged!!!!!1!1!1one!1!!
hee hee - he was really cool tho- we rolled up to the next light and apparently he had over 300hp bla bla bla- but then i felt good that i kept up with him, although i am not convinced that he was really trying...

That story reminds me of how things use to be back when I first got my car. Except it was backwards. I would rev at Mustangs and they would just plain out ignore me. A couple times they even told me they didn't want to waste their time... even when my car was solidly in the low 13's on pump gas. Then mid 12's and still the same. It's only been fairly recent it seems that those V8 guys are starting to get edumacated.

I have to admit to putting on stickers on my car, too. But that was in the mid 90's and only lasted a week before I peeled them all back off. :wiggle:

ok folks... things are not happy in wagon ville- long story short i'm getting CEL's for misfires... apparently stock txs maps are known to create problems (i.e.; blowing coilpacks, like i did on the dyno) because of changes in degrees of timing that the cp's can't keep up with. something was not right w/the car tonight- even though it was hot and humid, and i got a bad launch, i should have done a LOT better than 14.9 :(
got a better launch, ran another freaking 14.9.
adjusted boost, ran a 14.5.
so chad thinks that the two weeks that i had the car onthe stock map, it might have messed with the plugs/coilpacks... hence the problems tonight (they might be just ready to go)
SOOO he rechecked the map, says it's not that... suggested to change the plugs, and check the coilpacks, and go from there.
so, tonight i'm pretty pissed, frustrated, dissapointed, and worried...

Dave
07-12-2005, 11:31 PM
ouch, is there an upgrade coil pack out there? what plugs are you using? I like the NGK br9es but the ressesed tip changes your timing so you have to reset your base...

Im sure you'll get it soon

TehWagon
07-12-2005, 11:39 PM
yea, i thought the plugs were platinum, in with lots of life in them from the seller of the car... and i just got the car in Feb...
there are STi coilpacks, one of which is on now... but i shouldn't be blowing them - i need to figure out why they're blowing first... i think i have, i just may need new ones since these may be weakened from having the txs map running for 2 weeks... fockers!!!
ok i'm going to bed... more worries tomorrow!

woah woah woah platinums are BAD NEWS for turbo cars! the plat melts right off the electrode and then you have little metal turds bouncing around your combustion chamber. :thumbdow: it'll probably be ok but switch em out for a copper core plug asap. even if its just cheapo autolites.

ok... as we all know i'm basically car-dumb, so bear with me here... i checked the spark plug faq on nasioc ( http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=518633 ), and they are saying that wrx's come with platinum plugs stock?
i am just being lazy and not checking my manual... which i will do...
i did reset the ecu today and the CEL did not come back on, however, i can still hear that it's missing at idle and with a little rev, so i am sure the light will come back on as soon as i start actually driving... :(
hopefully through some research i'll get the plugs changed to better/appropriate ones and with a bit of luck this problem will be fixed...

ok i tried again and got a person this time. here goes.
spoke to nathan. he said being that i am running on the version 2.5(b) software, but downloaded the newer maps and possibly parameters (from version 4.2-c) there are flaws in the two versions communicating with eachother, mainly in the parameters, that can cause problems; most specifically, temurature compensation that turns on at the wrong time, dumping extra fuel (no wonder my gas mlg has still sucked), causing misfires, frying coilpacks, all of which i've experienced. in all likelihood, chad tuned a newer map on the old version software and didn't catch it (maybe he just missed that...) so my tune is now useless, according to nathan. what i need to do is download the new version onto the utec, and retune on the new version maps. he said i might be able to manually enter everything, but recommended that a professional do it.
thoughts everyone?
i'm leaving work now but will check in later on-

Honestly i thought that would have been the first thing to check when buying a used utec so sorry I didnt bring it up myself. Although nathan and I have not always seen eye to eye I would take his advice and upgrade to the new software asap. There are alot more things included in it aside from your issue.

yea- hindsight's 2020, me being a noob i had no idea :( time to tell chad and see if he'll retune the new map...

TROLL
08-06-2005, 02:59 AM
definitely get all of your software up to date... but save your tuned maps because i'm pretty sure they will work. some of the parameters have been modified, but the fuel, timing, and boost maps are still the same exact format so unless i'm missing something they should fall into place as they should. you might need to enter them manually but thats not a big deal really considering all of the dyno time that went into them.

ok upgraded last night- reentered the tuned map by hand, didn't touch the parameters... pain in the a$$... car is running fine so far w/no CELs so far but is barely boosting over 12.9... turned up the abc this morning and barely saw an increase... it's on closed loop for boost as per chad's recommendation... thoughts?

criz
08-10-2005, 08:30 AM
isn't the impreza ECU in closed loop mode for a certain throttle position range and after that range is exceeded it goes into open mode?

that's the way I've been understanding

TehWagon
08-10-2005, 08:35 AM
yes i believe your correct-

TROLL
08-10-2005, 11:16 AM
i honestly dont remember why but general consensus is that you want to run open loop fueling and closed loop boost. what are the values in your boost map? what boost were you running before? i really cant think of a reason why the update should change anything sine the structure of the maps should be exactly the same.
i'd suggest that you give TXS a call. ask for jermaine... he has taken a lot of time with me in the past even on things i bought used (not directly from txs). see if he has any ideas...
bryan

TehWagon
08-10-2005, 11:26 AM
i'm gonna monkey with the boost some more before i call- just to make sure there really is a problem- it could just be the abc isnt turned out enough...
incidently, chad told me closed loop for BOTH boost and fuel (though to his credit, he's been pretty sick and had just woken up when he told me that)... but i didn't see where i could set the parameter for open or closed for the fuel??

i'll pm you the boost map and u can see what u think as far as values go...

TehWagon
08-22-2005, 09:28 AM
ok resurrecting this thread for more advice... seneca u mentioned the gain- if it is the 'boost control gain' you meant, it is currently set at 45. is that low?
also, open loop fueling is definitely off. not sure what other params to check to determine where i'm getting the problems, but given what chad was saying about the advances in timing w/the txs maps, i'm thinking damage might have been done to the other 3 that didnt' get replaced, and maybe now they are acting up? anyone agree this might be the misfire culprit?
incidently, on the stock ecu, with the abc closed, i was boosting more than i was on the utec with the abc open 4200turns. not alot, mind you, becuase my stock ecu never boosted over .09 probably, but still more than what it was...

TROLL
08-22-2005, 09:45 AM
i think you should be running open loop fueling and closed loop boost. 45 gain is about where it should be, i believe the lower the number the more aggressive it is with 50 being the default starting point. i think i had mine at 47.
bring a laptop to the meet or make sure someone else does and then i, or someone else, can at least glance over your maps. or you could copy them and post them here if you want... include your parameters as well, they'll be a seperate file.

Would you go as far as saying that when runnign the stock ecu the boost onset and peak are "normal?"

TehWagon
08-22-2005, 10:08 AM
as normal as it was when it was stock, yes. i always boosted low when it was on the stock ecu.

seneca
08-22-2005, 10:11 AM
Then you can pretty much rule out a boost leak. Why dont you buy my mbc and just go that route?

TehWagon
08-22-2005, 10:44 AM
will do. mike's got my joe p and has been saying he wants to take it off... perhaps i'll do that- chad said to do that too... he mentioned that it could be because i'm fueled to 16 psi that it might be running richer if i'm only boosting around 11. so one issue might be tied in w/the other somehow...
after some thought, i'm not going to get 3 new coilpacks until it misfires on the stock ecu, b/c the fact that it doesn't on the stock ecu leads me to believe that it's not the coilpacks.

seneca
08-22-2005, 10:47 AM
Its DEFINATELY not the coilpacks. Of course theres a ton of extra fuel in there casue the car isnt boosting as it ought to. Put the mbc in and see what is what.

TehWagon
08-22-2005, 10:49 AM
well, since the software was old when the utec was installed and car was tuned, it makes sense the the other 3 coilpacks could have been affected... but it may not be what's causing the misfire...
i'll keep ya's posted...

seneca
08-22-2005, 10:51 AM
If it doesnt misfire ont he stock ecu its not the coilpacks. Put in the mbc or better yet get yourself a decent ebc and tune it that way.

TehWagon
08-22-2005, 10:55 AM
yea but i also didn't take it down the track and whoop on it w/the stock ecu either to 'really' see if i could get the light to come on. i have rung it out on the road though and no lights- but yea, i'll post up when i get it resolved...

cbrd
08-22-2005, 11:05 AM
well,

my suggestion also...

as im not a fan of the stock boost solenoid, as it seems to struggle for response and control..... so i tend to use manuals, such as a DNA or likewise....they all work pretty similar, as long as they dont experience excessive spiking issues!

anyway.... the boost can be run in closed or open loop, but the values will vary.... either 0-100 or 0-500...

the car was tuned in closed with slightly higher values than normal, but every car is different. I didnt take the time to check to see if the restrictor was in the signal line, but, i was able to achieve the 16.5psi i wanted to see on the dyno and street, and i feel it is not my responsibility to make sure a customer's car is 100% before dyno-ing. If I did, i would have to spend 2 hours checking coilpacks, plugs, fittings, etc......

the issues i see, i would normally recommend the following:

remove the coil packs and plugs, inspect throroughly
check the plug gap and re-gap accordingly... (we tend to run a slightly smaller gap to prevent high rpm misfire)

check all pressurized fittings

make sure uppipe cat is in tact (if running stock uppipe, they have a tendancy to come apart)

anyway...

those are the things i would start with... i have seen a few utecs with problems, and have one give me problems on my own project evo.....

the risk of this of course goes up, when they are second or third owner units, just like any other electronic device.

regardless, sorry to ash if i haven't been as responsive, it's been a little hectic, being sick, trying to get everythiing for my new shop in order (trying to open spring of '06) and some other small bits.

we will keep looking at it until it's resolved.

cheers

Here's more info that was gleaned today.

1. The resistor is indeed in the hose that goes from the compressor to the T.

2. The car, with an MBC instead of the ABC, will still only boost to around 11 PSI with it turned all the way out. Whether I have it in corectly to replace the ABC is still up in the air, but it is run in series from the T where the wastegate/compressor connect to where the Electronic Boost Control Solenoid under the cover.

3. With the EBCS unplugged(electrically), the car only sees wastegate spring pressure.

4. All hoses are in good working order.

Tomorrow I think I am going to copy the map and add some values in the boost columns to see if there is a difference. We are also going to swap in my Boost Control Solenoid to see if that is the problem. Also going to see if the actuator arm is stuck.
Any other ideas? Things to check?

just run the mbc in between the compressor and wg..

leave the stock solenoid plugged in so it doesnt throw a fault, but dont hook up vacuum signal to it..

that should make a difference.

My concern is the PTFB if the MBC is hooked up like a normal MBC install. Will the UTEC compensate for the added boost because it is in Closed Loop Boost?

seneca
08-23-2005, 10:35 AM
forget ptfb until you get the issue resolved. its more of a nuisance than a motor blowing shortcoming. i ran my mbc as chad recommended for 2 years without issue.

Yeah, but this isn't my car. I really hate to put other peoples cars in danger if I don't have to.

Will the UTEC compensate for the added boost by adding fuel? Isn't that the purpose of Closed Loop Boost, to use the background map to calculate the correct AFR?

seneca
08-23-2005, 12:13 PM
The car is tuned for 16.5 psi IIRC. Try and get it to make at least 15-16 psi and see if there is another problem with the car. All you are trying to do is figure out why she isnt makign more than 11 psi. CLB has noting to do with fuel afaik.

*update* car is boosting (actually had the mbc turned out the wrong way, and found out that a stock TD04-13F[?] will boost to 20 psi !!!1) soooo we can safely say i am making boost. we logged a pull and will post that up for comments later when i get home. so mbc is now set around 16.6 or .11 mpa.
so can we safely say that what this narrows down to is a bad boost control solenoid, now that we are bypassing that and have checked everything else?

No other changes were made to the car since the other day. Now the car is boosting to it's target boost, so I am gathering that the BCS is toast. We ran out of time to swap mine in there, but hopefully this weekend we will get to try that.

"either a bad boost solenoid, a bad hose or connection in line with it, or the utec settings for boost arent right"

all of these things were changed by running a MBC, so make sure you check all of the possibilities here, not just conclude its a bad factory boost controller.

The settings are the same as the were the day the car was on the dyno. All we did was manually enter the numbers from the previous map after we upgraded to 4.2C.

I still think its related to the software upgrade. Why not just put your bcs in there and test it so you know. OR you could jsut run the mbc until you ptfb your way to ej heaven.

anyone? i'd like to get some 2nd/3rd etc opinions on racing thurs- it's very tempting, given the weather and all, but i'm hesitant to do so until i get this fully squared away...

Did you guys calibrate the tps? Im never seeing 100 throttle? Are you sure youre going wot?

TehWagon

OH YEA, it was matted for sure. um, not sure what you mean by calibrating that... i'll check w/mike and see if he remembers...

seneca
08-24-2005, 09:34 AM
well if you floored it and youre not getting 100 percent in throttle position sensor column then you need to calibrate it.

TehWagon

ok then - i'll search for the instructions...

TehWagon

ok mike knows how to do it. so given that we calibrate the tps, would you say that is part of the problem? or just something you noticed in the log. i'd like to get some input as far as the next step in narrowing down what the actual problem is!

seneca
08-24-2005, 10:28 AM
I think its something that needs to be resolved as it will affect is the load columns you are hitting. If you look at that log you only hit 90 percent load once.

TehWagon
08-24-2005, 10:35 AM
i see. so no racie thursdee?
also, i'm looking on nasioc and i'm seeing a couple aftermarket bcs's but no factory ones... (in prep for if it is bad) - is it not a good idea to get, say, a perrin one?

TROLL
08-24-2005, 10:44 AM
calibrating the tps will only affect the boost map as it is the only map that uses tps as one of the inputs... it means you'll be in the 90% column max instead of the 100% column. its probably not a big deal, but yeah calibrate it anyways. it shouldnt affect the load you're seeing unless you have different values in your 90% and 100% boost columns.
also, next time you do a pull do it in 4th gear ideally (or 3rd works too) and start at like 2000 or 2250 rpms so we can see how your timing and afr transition as your boost builds, and how early it builds. just hold it at full throttle until you're going as fast as you feel comfortable. no need to shift into the next gear, i'd just like to see one nice long pull in one gear. doesnt look like you went full throttle immediately on that pull, so just make sure to do that next time.
and as i was saying, boost values of 200-230 could very well result in 11 psi... i had my boost values set at 350 or so to get my 16 psi. if i were you i'd increase those values by 50 and see if it chagnes anything... then slowly raise them more (25 at a time) to get your boost dialed in right where you want it.

thanks... i think we logged and saved a 3rd gear pull too, though i doubt i matted it immediately- let me see what i can find...

seneca
08-24-2005, 01:32 PM
Troll isnt load calculated with rpm and boost? If so it will affect all the maps and explain why shes only seeing 80 percent load for the most part. I agree that the boost map is WAY too low and would definately try adjusting it before repalcing parts.

ok. getting closer here. for ****s and giggles i'll throw this log up - could be worthless, might not- but here goes- the rpms look low for the load values so i'm not real sure what was going on during this pull actually-
mike thought this was a 4th gear pull but i dunno.....

also, just hung up w/jermaine at txs... he mentioned that if chad tuned in open loop (which i can't remember) the boost control solenoid would have been at 100% which is why i was seeing higher boost before the software upgrade. if, after dl'g the software, i changed to closed loop, it'd be taking the values from the map, which are low. he recommended to reinstall the abc and see if changing the values in the map (by 100!) would make a difference... i asked him if i was having success w/the mbc would he recommend any changes- he said no.
if by some miracle i can get this calibrated before thursday night and log a pull that looks good, i may run. since my CELs have almost always come one after an atco night, what better way to put it thru its paces?

ok i see in the instructions how to calibrate the tps, but it seems to simple. once i log the values in "T1 under logger #4" (i'm assuming that'll make sense once i'm back in hyperterminal lookin at it) is there something else i need to do? i'm not seeing it in the manual... i'll keep lookin...

Calibrating the tps should take literally 30 seconds. Its jsut another thing to cleanup on the road to having a smooth tune.

boost is calculated on tps vs. rpm

fuel and timing are calculated on load vs. rpm

what that means is if your boost values are different in the 90% column than they are in the 100% column then yes it will affect your tune. if they are the same it shouldnt make a difference, but regardless its just better to have your tps calibrated so it hits 100 (or higher).

when i calibrate my tps i just sit in my driveway with the key in the ignition but not having the engine running. i use the dashboard display on the utec/hyperterminal and see what it says when my foot is off the gas and when i have the pedal pushed to the floor. based on those values i go into parameters and change the max and min values until my min is 0% and my max is 100% (or more).

ok i think (hope) i did it correctly. min tsp was .7, my calibration changed it to .5 ; max was 4, my calib changed it to 3.9 or thereabouts. i think we're seeing better numbers now.
let me just tell you how frustrating it is to try and stretch your legs to do a good pull in rush hour traffic (in the interests of time i couldn't do 95 -oh well)here are a couple different pulls... as evidenced by the space between them (i cleaned up the log a little bit to just include the pertinent info- what a PITA to do this by onesself!)

i'd really like to see a pull from 2000 rpm like i was saying earlier so we can see what your boost onset looks like. cant tell much about it from these unless you're really not hitting full boost until 3200 rpm... i'm too tired to really analyze these right now but i'll tak ea look tomorrow..

alright kids resurrecting this for yet more problems... as many of you know i had another CEL on the way to atco- again, misfires on cyl 1, 3 AND 4. :(

so, the opinions about this have gone from 'ah, screw it, my car throws misfires all the time. it doesn't mean anything' to suggestions to get the source of the problem pinpointed, which is where i am at opinion-wise. i'd rather not beat on it till i make sure i'm not going to blow another coil pack or some crap like that...

and so, i would like suggestions as to what to do to narrow this down further.

seneca- if you'll be around on saturday i'd like to stop by and ask u to check the parameters, just to make sure there's not something off there that i'm not seeing...

any help is appreciated, as always...

ok apparently everyone is sick of my problems... i don't blame ya's... i'm sick of it too!

an update if anyone cares... just hung up w/jermaine again... he mentioned a few things to check, one of which is using a scanner to check the fuel trims, whatever that is. he also said to check the connections on the plugs (duh) and grounds-cough*pete*cough (i did take one of the connections off, and will again, to install the strut bars, so i guess it makes sense to recheck them, even though they'll be in the same spot??)

he said if all that failed and i was still throwing misfire codes, to call him and he'll give me a RMA to send it to txs and take a look at it. i thought that was pretty cool.

also, something worthy of mention. when i blew the coilpack, i'm pretty sure it was cylinder 2. it's interesting that a couple of times when i've thrown misfires, it's been on cyl 1, 3 and 4. i'm going to switch the cyl 2 coilpack around this w/e and see if the misfire codes change around. then i'll know if i need all new coilpacks (i always had a sneaky suspicion that they had been weakened by the software thing and were sort of ticking timebombs from that point on...)

now, i know that we don't think it's the coilpacks since the misfires don't happen on the stock ecu, but this is interesting, no?

What kind of gap are you using for the spark plugs? They might be gapped a little too wide for your aftermarket boost and aging coil packs.

TehWagon

.028! :( good thinkin though...

That's pretty tight as it is, you could always try new spark plugs, cheaper than coil packs. :(

although when i started having misfire probs that was the first thing that went in- doh! good thinkin anyway =/

oops - this is ash - i'm over mike's...

changed fuel filter. shortly thereafter, car threw yet another CEL for misfires, cylinders 1, 3 and 4 this time. at least we're mixing it up and keeping things interesting...
well at least i know that a) it's not the fuel filter, and b) it's not the coilpacks.

ps - just got off the phone w/jermaine from txs - they said i could send it back and they'll send me a replacement while they look into what's wrong w/mine, and to test the replacement to see if i still throw the codes while running it- pretty sweet!!!

heh- yea, i gotta get home to get the box and the instructions and all... otherwise i could just take it out on my lunch hour!
i guess i should readjust the mbc once it's off just in case? or just keep an eye on it...

TehWagon

ok utec's all off the car and packed up- i'm so proud of myself! it was actually pretty easy...
boosting about the same as before... just gotta watch for ptfb...
i'm not sending the abc etc etc back w/it- sen do u agree?

With a MBC and the stock ECU, it's really easy to hit full boost at well under half throttle. It does take some getting used to, but after a few days of watching the gauge it will be second nature. Hopefully you can swap the new one in quickly.

On a side note; I have been running the stock ECU with a MBC for a few years and it's all good so far. Still keeping my fingers crossed though....

I wholeheartedly disagree. I think you should return the boost control system to stock for two reasons. One is to check to make sure everything works as I dont believe you ever established that. Second is the obvious lack of em and you know where I stand on that.

TehWagon

yea- i think i pretty well got the ptfb eyeball thing down... i know what to do to avoid it... but yes i did check to see that the boost control system was as it should be when i had the utec off (on the 0 map) and the car boosted about 14 lbs which is what it used to do pre-all this stuff.

my question was more so what to send back to txs, but i forgot i could just call them today.

TehWagon
09-02-2005, 12:06 AM
OK... GET THIS!
i threw a CEL tonight- so i'm thinking HOLY CRAP! the car misfires OFF the utec too! almost excited, because it's another item in the process of elimination...

BUT, alas, it was just P0420, to my dismay... wtf?! i took off the mbc today (working fine, btw, boosts to .08-.09 or about 14.5 i'd say? too late for math) and would this have something to do w/it? perhaps i should have reset the ecu?

Is the car working OK on the factory BCS?

TehWagon
09-02-2005, 09:04 PM
yes, doesn't build boost quite as quickly, but still boosts a decent amount- i thought that was what i said above... or did you mean something different?

the mike
09-02-2005, 09:12 PM
I was just trying to figure out if that was a "before I took off the MBC" or "after I returned it to stock".
So the car is back to stock as of right now?

TehWagon
09-02-2005, 09:18 PM
before and after i took the mbc off, the car was boosting fine- higher when the mbc was on, of course, and about 14-15 lbs i'd say, after i took it off.
the car's not stock, of course, but yea, both the utec and the mbc have been de-installed. :)

the cat inefficiency should be expected even with your high flow cat. i wouldnt worry about that one... well i would try and do the mechanical fix for it just so you dont have to worry about it, but its not related to whatever other problem you are having.
