a power washer at the wrong distance will tear your paint right off. Stay far away and work your way in until it does it job. Don't get really close though.

well its different with every pressure washer...like mine is 2550 psi, so i would just use the general purpose jet, if i used the high pressure jet, it would take the paint off from 10 feet away.

I have the blue walmart special power washer, so one inch away = I still need to scrub the crap off.

Personally i would say steam cleaner. The pressure helps but I think the Heat would do a better job. also no need to worry as much about the paint then. steam in to break everything loose. then pressure wash it to remove the rest.

Mist down the engine bay with a degreaser and use the "wide" nozzle on the power washer and spray it down. i detail for a benz dealership and i use power washers everyday on cars. i think its all about what "Jet" u have it on.

Sorry to thread jack but if you've ever seen my engine bay you would know why haha. What about with a motor in it. Whats the best way to clean it?

^ mist with degreaser and hose/powerwash off then begin detailing by hand. If you have a Short Ram intake be careful not to spray that down!

Use CD2 Engine detailer for that extra shiny bling when you are done.
