wassup fellas again . thanks to tst and input from other forums , i went ahead and just purchased a set of wheels that I have been trying to research and see if it fits . I've always liked WORKS and wanted to get VSXX or Meisters S13P for my SUbaru but it wouldnt look as nice as they would on 240s .

so I got a chance to get some WORK wheels and I was planning to get some WORK Equips but fell in love with the VS-XX .

the size i went with is

Work VS-XX
18x10 J+0 and 18x12 +13

and i plan to run 30mm fenders on the front and either 30mm or 50mm over fenders on the rear depending which would fit better .

here are the pics of the wheels , i should be getting them in about a week .

and they will be going on this car

and now I need some input and opinions on another question ...

what size tires should I run ?

the car is making a little over 300 whp at the moment but I would like to get close to like 380whp .

I do plan to use the car to drift . ( try to learn ) so not sure if that matters on tire selection and might go with either Bridgestones or Dunlops .

so I need your input fellas about what size tires and which model Bridgestones or Dunlops ? I think with Dunlops , I would be going with Direzzas ?

thanks

Are you doing mainly street driving so you would want a "normal" good street tire? Do you drive in the rain?

If it was me, I'd go for Toyo RA-1's on back in the 335/30 and a 275/35 on front.

For "normal" street tires in the high/max performance category, I just read a decent comparison/review in C&D magazine http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=4&article_id=10252

Nick, that's the sizes normal people would run on that size of wheel.

But if this kid is going to be drifting, he'll probably want something a little more stretched. Probably something like a 235 for the front and a 265-275 for the back.

And if not, pick something in between what I said and what Nick said.

definately stretch the tire all the way around. It's going to be hard to calculate how well it will fit without knowing camber settings, ride height, and all that jazz.

All I know is it better be tucking tire with lots of camber!

if you have a good enough pull in the rear you should be able to stuff those 12s under there with a 295ish tire and at least -3 degrees of camber

as for the 10s up front, you should be fine with 275s....or if you want to stretch 255s (minor stretch) that'll work too

if you are definitely going to run over fenders....20mm over fenders will be plenty, 50mm overfenders will allow you to run some nice size meat back there (think 315s easily)....30mm overfenders will probably be too narrow

if you do it right the car should look gangster when its done

hope you have the baller money for the right tires for those baller wheels

A good pull and the 12's will fit in the back, have you ever tried to fit big wheels on an s13? I have 9.5 +12 on the back of my car and with a small pull, maybe 1/4" maybe a little more, and 4* of camber, they don't rub. I tried my 11.5 -7's on the back with the same alignment and they stuck out probably close to 2". So the 12 +13 won't stick out as much as those, but it will still be about 1.25" (about 30mm) more than mine. So 50mm overs in the back would be the best bet.

As for the front, I have the same size in the front and I needed a roll and a pull to make those clear and they still rub and that's also with 4* of camber. I think on Mac's car, we had 10.5 +3 in the front with 30mm fenders and they were touching the fender with a little less than 2*, so with more, they would probably be perfect. And that's with a 235/40 on there, anything wider would probably be rubbing the fender pretty bad.

So it really depends on how much work you want to do. For the front, if you want to run more than a 235 or maybe a 245, you're going to need more than just normal over fenders. For the rear, with that offset and width, you can see how much you can fit under there, but probably a 275 would be max with normal overfenders. If you had a higher offset, you could probably get more rubber under there until you run into clearance issues with the inside.
