Pocono July 20th (Friday). PDA is hosting the event. 295.00 gets you track time on all 3 courses (north south and east). I assume this is going to be run like it was last year and if so, its A LOT of track time.

Well I need to get some cars done for July, looks like there's a lot of opportunities for driving.

Yep, 1 day. You basically get about a 30 min break in between each session. I bailed on the last session of last year I was soo tired (and broke from all the gas I went through, lol).

the nice thing about the tri region PDX is that is uses the the grand prix 2.5 mile long course, its a blast to get up to speed on the nascar straight aways

I'm gonna try to make the July 20 event but I have to have an oil cooler installed before then or I doubt I would run without it.

I did that TriRegion SCCA PDX event in June 2005. I thought the high speed track layout was fun/unique, but I also thought that track setup is not as challenging as some of the other Pocono layouts.

Is there also two more events that weekend?

BMS

We (Budriss Motorpsorts) might be going to Pocono to do some testing this weekend, also maybe again June 14 all run by PDA.

what all do you need to do this? just the 295$ for signup and helmet? I mean i have a 4pt rollbar and stuff, but no suit or extinguisher inside the car?

BMS
06-06-2007, 11:55 PM
all you need is the fee to get in and basically makes sure that your car is race ready to go on a track, also you need long sleeve shirt and long pants and of course a helmet.

Chris(NJ)
06-07-2007, 12:47 AM
yep. you can download and print the tech sheet off the pda site. Have your mechanic go over the car and fill out the sheet.

i did this two years ago as well. it's the biggest/fastest configuration for the price.

not very technical track overall, but if your right foot is heavy-go here for that specific TriRegion event.

i pressume the big HP folks love this configuration.

there is a very strong possibility that we will have the neon there, because we need to mess around with the suspension.

ah that sux you cant make it Fri. It would've been a good day b/c you could've tried out shooting all 3 tracks then could've figured out which one you like shooting for future events.

Is this the one off the PA turnpike and then off Route 80? If so my grandpop lives like 10 minutes from there, if not I'm thinking of another track right by there.

I'm gonna try to make it up Friday, too, should be there mid morning today. I'd like to see how these dampers work. So I'll look to meet up with all you guys on Friday. I'm not registered to run, just voyeuring this time.

I was there with my younger son, we met Chris at the BMS camp, and Tim and his brother wrenching on their Supra. Not great pics, but here's a couple shots I got:

With all the concern about the environment, hybrid racing cars are getting more popular too:

So what could be a better hybrid than a light Datsun tube frame race car and a nice small block Chebby: ...notice my Team Racing RAV4 in the background.

Nick, nice pictures and good seeing you again.

It was an awesome trip and we had a lot of fun. It was great riding up in the BMS toter/trailer/awesomeness both for me and kevin and the supra.

We ended up calling it quits pretty soon after you left. After Kevin came in, I ran another session and when I pulled in the pits there was oil everywhere. Running down the bumper, on the windshield, all over the bottom of the hood. We still couldn't find where it was coming from, but I borrowed the Super Awesome Leak Finder 3000 today, so hopefully I'll be able to get it all tightened up and not misting oil all over the engine bay tomorrow.

I wish I had a chance to get more pictures. But we spent all the time either driving or trying to find oil leaks and fix other small problems.

The Vette kept holding me up in the corners, but was too fast on the straights and wouldn't slow down so I could pass.

Jim,
Now that I see your Suby, I saw you bombing around the track pretty good. In fact, did I talk to you over by the fence looking at the North Course? I talked to a guy there who had a moded Suby and I have no idea who it was.

Next time we should plan a meeting area everybody knows about and more of us get together and meet each other. Or if you hate me, not.

...j/k hardly anybody hates me.

Nick,
If you were there on Sunday then there is a good chance that the silver suby was me. I don't think that we talked over by the north course if my memory serves me right. I agree, we should all meet up next time and put some names to faces. My friend is doing some work on the pics now so i should have them up soon.
- Jim

Did anyone record there times from the north course?

Jim, I was there on Friday not Sunday, so we're still strangers so to speak.
