My clutch went tonight and was wonder what people thought about their aftermarket clutches. I am currently using the ACT stage II but it wont hold. Just wanted to know what clutch people have tried and how they felt about it.

x3. My car should be in the 400 ft/lb torque range and my ACT is holding up just fine.

Well the ACT stage 2 I have doesn't want to seem to hold. The car has close 200 in torque, nowhere close to what the stage 2 says it can hold. Maybe its just a defective clutch. Has anyone ever tried an Exedy clutch?

that could have been an improper install. once a clutch disk is contaminated, its beat..... be very particular on who installs your clutch, and how they install it.

i have a spec stage II clutch in my car. i beat it (the clutch) plenty, and it hasnt compained once.... i can slip it as good as i could any stock clutch, which is definately a plus in finding good 60' times. Overall... the best clutch ive ever driven. seems many ppl on this board swear by the act's.... the only act ive ever driven was on an '85 turbo 300zx. i hated it. the clutch pedal was WAY too heavy.

OH yeah, I forgot! hhahahaha. I had the CM stage 4 for years and it took a lot of beating! I changed the clutch disk with a competition clutch stage 4 and it feels as good as the CM stage 4.

I went with the Exedy Twin Plate..... the torque rating on the 2600 act is 400 ft lbs, on my last dyno, @23psi, on a mustang dyno, my torque was 380 ft lbs, (around 465 on dynojet). So the ACT wouldn't be suitable for me, since I have another 10psi to go!! :supz:

The Exedy is EXPENSIVE  , but well worth it.

I know quite a few DSMrs running an ACT 2600 deep into the 400++ ft/lb torque range. It seems the clutch holds up just fine.

I never had problems with my 2600, but I was planning for the future. I don't know how true the limitations are and don't feel like pulling off the trans if I don't have to. I love the exedy now tho.... takes a lot getting used to tho.

I've heard some good things about Spec clutches, but I haven't used one myself. Yet

I've been running an ACT HD with multiple passes and I've had it about 2 years now and it holds up fine. Maybe a little to heavy for some people though.
