I can't find my old post, so I'm just going to make a new one.

This build started about 8 months ago. I used to have a Jackson Racing Supercharger on my stock D16Y8 that I had gotten fed up with, so I pulled it off and sold it and the Kamikaze header and took the route to go turbo. From the beginning I knew I wanted to go as big as I could.

The old setup.

Stock D16Y8, didn't even put headstuds in it.
T3T04e 57trim .63AR Stage 3 wheel
Log manifold
3" downpipe and 3" exhaust done by Natedog Creations
Tial 38mm Wastegate
2" hotside piping, 2.25" coldside piping
PWR 24x12x3 FMIC
Greddy RS BOV
Fast-turbo oil feed and return

Walbro 255lhp Fuel pump
DSM 450cc injectors
Converted P05 chipped with Crome
Street tuned by me

OBX LSD
1.762 2nd gear
1.033 4th gear
.771 5th gear
Clutch specialties stage 2 street disk
LSDmotorsports 11lb steel flywheel

Not much to it, very simple and made good power. On 8psi the car put down 217whp and 168wtq on RTtunings Dynojet. The car also ran 14.1 @ 102mph at Cecil County on a set of Toyo Proxies4s (street tires).

~215whp was fun and all for a while, but I have goals of 400+ so it's just not going to cut it. So about 5 months ago I picked up a used complete D16Z6 for $50 and got to work on it. Upon opening it up we found that the block was in damn good condition, the bores all checked out, there was no scratching on the cylinder walls, all of the bearings were still in good condition, and even the head had been recently resurfaced. But, stock isn't going to stand up to the planned pummeling of the internals, so we beefed them up.

Engine:

D16Z6 head and block
Stock sleeves
Vitara 75mm pistons
Eagle Rods
New OEM Rod and Main bearings
New water pump, head gasket, and timing belt
Ported and reused the oil pump
ARP Head studs
ZEX 59300 camshaft
ZEX valve springs

With that I needed to upgrade a few things on the turbo setup to get me to where I need to be. So I purchased the following.

APEXi AVCR EBC
CCFab Ramhorn Turbo Manifold
Action 2MD Clutch
Precision 780cc injectors

I also wasn't happy with the transmission mods that I did. The shift from 1st to 2nd was far too big and was causing the car to run some really ****ty 330s. So I did some more research and decided to try something else while I had the tranny out of the car. So, I bought a JDM ZC transmission and built a different hybrid trans.

OBX LSD
Stock 1st
Stock 2nd (went back to it, 1.909 vs 1.762)
JDM ZC 3rd (1.346 vs 1.25 stock)
JDM ZC 4th (1.033 vs .909 stock)
CRX Si 5th (.771 vs .702 stock)

Last weekend the old came out, and the new went in.

Out comes the old Y8, to this day hardly burns any oil.

Mani and turbo installed.

The 3" exhaust, too bad it's not visible sitting on the ground, Nate's welds are superb.

We welded up the downpipe. I haven't picked up a welder for over a year, didn't help that the metal was rusty, the welder was ancient, and that I suck at welding... lol. Oh well, it doesn't leak so who cares.

Pretty much finished up.

Tuning the car. Had the car purring at 800rpms and 14.1 AFRs with 780cc injectors in under 4 minutes.

I recently cut the front bumper up a bit to let more air in there, car runs about 20* cooler now.

We street tuned the car to the wastegate psi and I drove the car home. Cam is SCARY loud at 8K and the engine loves it all. Only problem we ran into was a leaking crank seal that was fixed, other than that I'm planning on upping the boost soon and seeing what she puts down. Looking for 15-18psi on pump gas which should net around the 300-325whp mark, and then putting in some C10 and going 25-30psi and looking for something around 400whp+.

I'm sure I'll remember some things that I forgot to add. Gotta find some time to take pictures and get video and all that good stuff too.

Updates as I get them. :)

Damn impressive SOHC build. Hell, it'd be impressive for DOHC.

Very cool Honda. Props for seeming to do lots of the work yourself... I'm guessing you do or know someone who works in a shop for a living, considering the lift? Good luck with the tune... those little engines always surprise me when they make the power they can.
