ok, i have an 06 sti. i have intake, tbe, and utec. i have the utec set on the stage 2 map, and its running like crap. we set it at max boost 18 psi. it goes up to 21 and sounds like the turbo is fluttering. when i shift into 4th it starts stuttering b4 it actually takes off. also while idling, about every 30 seconds the muffler starts sputtering like its going to die. i was told to get it tuned..but in the mean time what should i do?

lower the wgd cycles about 8% lower than were they are set now. \
is the car leaning out when its sputtering. get a wideband..

What kind of intake do you have on the car? I'm not saying that's the issue but I have heard some of them don't play nice with our cars.

sounds more like a utec issue. the intake could possibly be throwing off the map though if his map is not for a car with one. if thats the case you need to do some logging and maf scaling. also the utec is more like a piggyback and sometimes you may get a little hickup here and there because the ecu is still in charge. thats why i allways like a flash, with a utec ontop. get some logs and post them uo ill see what i can do.

did you unmarry the ap from your ecu? does anyone who's working on the current tune for your car have any experience with all of this?
i dont think you should look for a solution for the mean time, i think you should take it to a tuner soon and fix the problems once and for all.
the boost rising is most likely boost creep though which cannot be fixed with tuning, only by physically porting the wastegate in your turbo.

you can control boost creep by adjusting dc i have seen maps where they are set at 98% causing boost creep. more ) . it still creeps but not 4 psi like his. it wont cure it but it will help like troll said porting is the cure. aso check the bost target maps
i do agree with troll though, radther than learning on your car take it to a tuner asap. you can cause major damage with this situation you are going through right now.

Do you have an aftermarket BOV on the car? Which intake? Was the MAF reinstalled properly?
If you'd like us to take a look at and diagnose the car shoot me a PM, it sounds to me like the best thing to do is let someone look at it asap.

I've never heard of a boost creep issue with a Utec set to stage 2. I'm running stage 3 (tweaked to make up for my lack of an intercooler upgrade) installed by Ryan and I've had no issues *knocks on wood* hope you get this worked out. You should definately have Ryan or Verocious take a look at it though, the sooner the better.

bleh. I just saw this thread. Ian got tuned by Andy. His problem lies in its an 06. they are just really really picky with mods (ray you know what Im talking about ;) ) .
in the end he made some nice power and the car is back in action :)
