View Full Version : Removing Powder Coating?
I hear that you can use "gasket remover" to remove powder coating? Is this true? Has anyone had any success?

Well if your not worried about the finish just try it if it doesn't work try something else. Pm bonehead i am sure he will know. But i would say sanding since it is bonded to the metal.

I have never tried to use gasket remover to remove powder coat. Thinking about it though I don't think it would work. Gasket remover is liquid that will soften an RTV type material such as the goop you use to install gaskets. If your trying to remove powder coat you can get any type of paint remover at Wal Mart/Sears or even "air craft remover" at Pep Boys. Or if you bring it in we can strip it for you. We have a dip tank used for stripping items that have been powder coated already.

Just curious as to why you would want to remove powder coating? sorry for the newb question?
air craft remover is by far the best stuff ive used. i used to work at poweder coating shop and thats what we used. followed up by sandblasting. careful though that **** stings and burns if u get it on ur skin. and gloves dont work well, **** eats through them....
