Tried to start my engine today, lots of smoke, lots of oil in the bay. Not good.

Oil was bubbley, water with it for sure. Pulled the dipstck, more water.

Drain time:

http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e72/lockenstuff/HPIM1344.jpg

oh look water!

There is no way that I can think of that this much water (I have a drain pan full of it and the engine was so full of it that it was shooting out of the crankcase breather) could have been injested by my car naturally. It was parked two weeks ago in my driveway and hasnt been started until today.

If I find the person who ****ed with my car I gaurantee you will not be recognizable.

close but no. That drain pan filled up with just water, I think its 5 or 7 quarts.

emptied it.

Filled it with another 5-7 quarts of water/oil mix this time.

That between 10-14 quarts of water/oil in an engine meant to hold 4. awesome.

I really think they are going to be done. I think the water may have been in there for a good amount of time and it was a ton of it. I can be sure that it was up to the crank and in the bearings. oh well. i want an ej22 anyways

I'll look for an EJ18 for you.. someone owes me a favor so I might be able to pull some strings

teh DIRT
04-26-2007, 03:18 PM
thanks ryan. I think I might do what I should have done from the beginning and buy a DD. Its coming at a bad time but its needed.

Snoozie
04-26-2007, 03:23 PM
There are plenty of bargin lots around where you can find a decent DD for for like $500. Joe got his Sentra from one for $450 and it was in pretty good shape.

Dave
04-26-2007, 03:23 PM
when you do go to crank it, pull the ignition and let her roll over a few times on the starter, its not as good as priming it with a drill but it beats the hell out of jumping straight to 900 rpm dry

the engine gods were watching over me today.

3.5 quarts of 10W-40 and one quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer did the trick. It runs, smokes a good amount but it runs. The smoke is becoming less and less as the car runs so hopefully it will stop altogether.

I'll keep an eye out for a cheap daily beater for you I always seem to find some good deal...

swap the oil again and run a magnet through it, if your bearings wore at all the shavings will collect on the mag

I will change the oil again on sunday.

Yes I checked the coolant, it was perfectly full and perfectly clear. No milk there. This was definitly an act done by someone.

BTW my drain plug is metallic and will show any shavings :).

04-26-2007, 06:29 PM
I didn't want to respond till you found out what it was, but I'm really glad to hear it runs. That would've been the worst luck ever... well I guess it still is, but at least it runs now.

Good luck.

04-26-2007, 08:47 PM
Wow, shocking that someone would do that to you, and amazing that you seem to have gotten away with it. I'd change the oil now, use cheap oil and then go for a good, loooooooooooooooooooong drive. This is to boil and evaporate any water that remains in the engine.

teh DIRT
04-27-2007, 12:09 AM

Lucky man. Good to see things turn out. Will you be at Temple at all the next couple weeks? I'd love to meet up before classes are finally done.

ScubaSteve
04-27-2007, 12:29 AM
Next couple weeks? Finals are done the 9th as far as I know. I still think we need to have a Temple meet.

Back on topic. Glad to hear that you lucked out. I still don't see why anyone would do something so stupid. If it wasn't someone you know I'd expect them to steal **** or just smash it up rather than taking the time to get under the hood and fill it up. Where'd they get all that water from?

ozthunder
04-27-2007, 12:32 AM
We certainly do; and don't mind my lack of schedule knowledge. I'm going to town on 4 papers as we speak.

As per the topic. This really got me thinking. Like..how the HELL would anyone deliberately go about doing this? Why the hell would they want to **** with you that bad? Like..did you piss of a neighbor one time or something? Oi.

*looks around*

so true!!! glad to see your cars running, i can't believe someone would have done that. it's really f-ed up, but if you are still looing for a real cheap DD, there is a donation lot on lincoln hwy past pep boys. they sell stuff really cheap, and most of the cars run semi okay. i just sold my sentra, but that puppy past state inspection/emissions w/out a problem, and i only spent 450!

markley02

How could someone do that to your car? Wouldn't you see them? Is this whole thing a joke? Any marks from them breaking into your car to pop the hood?
