I've been searching around for a new car since mine is ready to be sold. (buyer is putting a down payment today to seal the deal) I've been really interested in getting a camaro and was mainly looking at 3rd gens because they are a LOT cheaper then 4th gens. Well I came across what seems to be the deal of a lifetime and I wanted to get your opinion. Depending upon what insurance will be, I may scoop this up.

1994 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 - $2,500 (obo)

About This Camaro
Mileage: 114,000
Body Style: Coupe
Exterior Color: Teal
Interior Color: Black
Engine: 8 Cylinders
Transmission: Automatic
Drivetrain: RWD
Doors: 2

Features:
A/C: Front, Cruise Control, Power Locks, Power Steering, Bucket Seats, Power Seats, Airbag: Driver, Airbag: Passenger, Alarm, Anti-Lock Brakes, Fog Lights, Power Windows, Rear Window Defroster, Tinted Glass, Alloy Wheels
Selling Points: I am selling this Z for the current adult owner who has used it as a daily driver for the past 10 years. Engine and transmission are the strong points. Engine starts right up and runs great - transmission shifts as it should. The exhaust sounds great! What it needs - a good detailing inside and out - driver's seat and bumper cover are torn - idiot lights come on and off - driver's door lock and mirror switch.
Condition: With a little work this will be a great car. The engine and transmission are strong, it has newer tires all around, and it's completely stock except for intake and exhaust. Selling as is - Priced to sell quickly.

Opinions? And can anyone do a carfax for me on it?

you should of bought my camaro

1. do a carfax!
2. the idiot light doesnt come on for no reason on those cars. it sounds like the car has an issue. around that mileage you can expect to start replacing things that arent cheap (heater core, optiospark, etc). I would go see the car, take it for a test drive and ask him what exactly is wrong with it that the light comes on. if he doesnt know ask him to take it to a mechanic because its probably something big
3. ew, teal

$2,500 is what the cars worth if it needs major repairs. mine went cheap for 4k same mileage.

Plus, I dont need heat for a while. I mean even though its cold in the mornings, I think I can deal with no heat if something like the heater core goes. Whats optiospark?

optispark is the ignition system

when it goes, it sucks to replace, BIG TIME.

a heater core can range from $500-$800 to replace. let alone the various other parts around it that can go.

My friend bought a 97' Z28 6spd with 95K miles on it for 5K, so this sounds like a decent deal as long as it's not to beat up. I didn't see anything about it not having heat. Anyway I would think even if you replaced the optispark if you have too, and w/e the heat problem is your still @ $3500 which isn't bad.

i would just be cautious. make sure the gears dont whine, the engine isnt burning or dripping any fluid and there isnt any hesitation while driving.

Why is your mom involved in the deal if YOU are buying the car? I know when i bought my car my mom wasn't involved

Because I'm 18 and I still live in her home and I'm on her insurance, thats why shes involved. And yes its auto. Plans have changed once again though. I talked her into it lol.
