i'm being faced with an issue: whether to void my warranty or not. some of you know that i've been thinking of getting a CAI for my tC but the dealer says that anything aftermarket will void my warranty. i'm interested to see the responses.

i'm not really a fan of TRD's intake. i wanted to go with injen.

Keep your stock air box and dont tell the dealer. when it needs service swap it back, only takes about 5 mins.

I agree completely
all of my stock parts are in the shed, if i ever needed to go to the dealer, i'd
spend about 2 hours putting everything back on...so I say go for it
::shurgs:: for the most part, especially when dealing with a few minor bolt ons, an intake is an intake. I'd opt for the dealer installed option to keep the warrenty and still introduce a power upgrade.

Sell your car and buy a saturn. They have the best warranties.
They can't void it unless they can prove YOUR part caused the malfunction in the car. (ie: throwing rod out of block because of boost)

i definitely would void the warranty, but not until later into it. i wouldn't if i couldn't fix a car by myself tho

That's the law for every manufacturer.
My opinion? Buy TRD. TRD makes awesome stuff, probably as good as injen, but it won't void your warranty.

Find a dealer that doesn't have a stick up their butt. Ask them if it is ok if you get an intake. Most will not have a problem. At least, that has been my experience. I went to the dealer once with intake/exhaust/vafc and they didn't mention one thing about it.
Or, just switch back and forth.

i think i probably will wind up switching it back and forth when i need to take it back to the dealer. thanks guys!
wait until the power bug bites you.
i wanna be around when you go to swap your exhaust/header/intake/everything else you'll want to add. ;)

i keep all of my stuff that i take off.. I will go as far as replacing the up and down pipe if I had to. Hopefully it will never come to that. There are many parts you can replace and easily change back if thats what you have to do. Subaru's warrenty is harsh, very harsh. They will void your warrenty even if they think you didnt somthing wrong. Just be smart on what you do. Work on cosmetics maybe untill your warrenty expires with some minor power mods. Exhaust, intake etc.. most service centers have no problems with those sorts of things. OR you can just call and ask them direct.

void it if u can get away with it...that is if you can swap parts out for the stock ones when needed...as far as somebody saying its the law that they have to prove your part did something wrong in the case of performance parts and warranty issues, I dont know about that at all...I voided my warranty on my old car and they didnt need to prove anything. As soon as they noticed some performance parts they slapped a big ol' F-you on my warranty claims...I mean when you put aftermarket parts on a car youre changing the specs that several highly trained engineers have developed. So unless youve got more degrees on your wall than those guys youre gonna have a hard time sweet talking a dealership into not voiding your warranty even for little sh*t...good luck with the TC!

I thought the idea behind the Scion was to make them so they could be modified/"customized"? If it is just minor bolt ons they are going to void your warranty? Why bother putting out those commercials when they aren't going to stick by their product?
I think you should do what you want to your car, just keep the stock parts incase there is a problem. Buy TRD stuff and say a dealer installed it. I keep all of mine, but when the uppipe comes out, the stock one is never going back in.
