Got a d40 yesterday for my bday!!!

Gonna post some of my amatuer shots tonight. I'm super excited with the camera. Its fairly easy to use, had some help from the fiance. She took a few classes with a slr and developing film, so its helping me learn fast.

Any other questions ill be asking all the gurus if I have any other questions!!

nice... have fun with it.
i'll say from the start.. focus on taking photos and practicing and working with you have... dont turn into one of those guys who thinks a better camera will take better photos.
any questions, of course just ask...

I just got a d40 myself a week or two ago. So far I am loving it. Coming from another amatuer.... go to this website and read. Also learning the camera and its functions seem most important to me

thats pretty much what ive been doing..here are some shots. i know i am in need of a tripod, that and some of my focusing could be better. is you using photobucket going to hurt the quality of the pics?

shooting indoors is always going to present extra lighting challenges that shooting in daylight wont. also, for now try to not use your flash for anything... it adds a whole other element which often doesn't come out looking very good. photobucket should be fine for displaying photos online though...
just keep shooting and posting them up... its good and hopefully a few guys here will take the time to let you know what they think and what you can improve on.

Welcome to the Nikon family, and enjoy your new camera.

Just like anything else practice makes perfect, the more time you can spend aquainting yourself with your camera and its features/capabilities and practicing with it the better you will get.

Other than that you can learn a lot from reading up on the basics of lighting and photograhpy on photo froums and even some photograhpy forums here on car froums.
