A buddy asked me when is the latest you can buy airfare for a trip... and I didn't have an answer for him so I wanted to turn to you, my friends.

If you were going somewhere on Saturday, is it possible to book the day before?

When is the latest you booked airfare?

thanks!

you might luck out- i think the lastest they usually tell you is 2 weeks to not get taken on the price-
you might try usa3000.com - they rock but i don't know whether they fly on the weekends- i think that's one of the ways they keep their prices so low-

Latest you can book is same day...but if you're looking for a ticket for this weekend, be prepared to get hit in the wallet for a crappy hour flight. You'll probably pay more than $100 more than what you would have if you booked two weeks ago, like Ash said. Good luck to your bud.

for work i've booked business trips like 2 days before... usually cost an arm and a leg (1900 bucks to ohio  )

however, you can be lucky and try esavers, which are last minute bargains for tickets

Latest I have done personally is the day before. Once for myself and once for my brother.

Crappy hours? Could be worse, I spent 3 hours stuck in the rear of a C130 and then a KC135 when we went to and from Georgia.

I played football in the back of a C141 Starlifter once...does that count?

Crappy hours as it applies to us civilians, goof. :D

For my trip to cali, we booked monday afternoon to depart on wed. afternoon. Not a bad time (4pm), paid the same $68 from philly to st pete that we would pay anytime.

On the way back, I bought a ticket at the counter from St. Pete to Newark at 6:15pm for a 9:00pm flight...same $78 it would have cost any time.

btw, there is no exit 18a on the interstate headed toward tampa, only on the way back...get off at 19. Other wise, you miss your flight, and almost stop talking to your friend...

when i went to cali, me and my ex booked tickets like 3 hours in advance, it was kinda a spur of the moment thing, we went to cali for a few days. the price of the tickets were something like $1,400 round trip for each ticket... but i thank her dad for paying, she used his credit card and ordered them on the internet, haha.
