OK, I am looking for as much information on the SRT-4 as possible. I dont mean information from Dodge, but information from actual owners. Mods you have, horsepower numbers, gas milage, reliability, milage, electronics, recalls, pros, cons, and pretty much anything that you can think of.
Some questions I have in particular are.
1. What exactly are the "stage 1, 2, 3" packages and are they better than the aftermarket parts offered (I believe the stages are offered by Mopar)
2. What milage do you have on your SRT, and what problems has it given you so far.
3. Ride quality
4. Insurance payments
5. What is the difference between the regular srt-4, the ACR, and the Commemorative Edition
Also, if you had to guess, what would you say would be the projected price for an SRT-4 in 2008. There are a lot of things that can go into play here, but just a ballpark figure.

The factory stages are more reliable and a little more expensive. Aftermarket kits are a little cheaper, produce more power, but are not always plug and play like the Mopar kits.
2. What milage do you have on your SRT, and what problems has it given you so far.
16,000miles. No problems at all.
3. Ride quality
I cannot really compare it to anything since the only other things I have are a Taurus and an STi. Pretty nice till you put on very stiff coilovers.
4. Insurance payments
$1300/year in my father's name.
5. What is the difference between the regular srt-4, the ACR, and the Commemorative Edition
Regular is regular. ACR is handling - 16" wheels, aftermarket struts and springs, and I believe thicker sways. Commerorative is a special edition - All of them are numbered and white with blue stripes. Same performance as regular.
Also, if you had to guess, what would you say would be the projected price for an SRT-4 in 2008. There are a lot of things that can go into play here, but just a ballpark figure.
Probably 10-12k for a used one with under 50k.

I'll be the first to say it... good idea asking owners for their opinions, but a better idea would be searching SRTforums.com or another SRT-4 forum. All of this info has undoubtedly been covered at length and you'll get a better answer, from a larger group, faster.
But seriously, I found your answer to #5 on google in 20 seconds. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_SRT-4

That will also be part of my approach, but I dont want to join a whole new forum just for this matter. A hefty number of people here own or have owned the srt, so that info will suffice. In addition, im not buying today, so I am in no rush.

OK Gomer, we'll start here, even though i dont own an srt i'll give you a little bit of insight into the questions you asked. The different stages available from Mopar are very good, and is probably the most reliable plug and play you can get for the car. AGP makes a big turbo kit for the SRT and a lot of people go this route without any problems and make upwards of the 500hp mark. Where as the stage kits offered by mopar will only put you in just under the 400hp mark IIRC. The srt's very smooth, it's like driving a new car...my buddy just bought a stage 2 04, very smooth car if you know how to drive it correctly, the suspension is a little less than desireable on the stock srt's, coilovers, sways, strut bars will help solve that issue. You can get any version of the SRT4 in any of the stages from the factory, you just have to order it that way, obviously, since they no longer make them, you'd have to buy one, then go to the dealership and have them bring in the neccessary parts, such as computer, injectors, wastegates, turbo...blah blah blah. The only difference between the bare model srt4 and the acr is in the suspension and wheels. The seats are a little bit different too but that doesnt really count. And the comemorative version as far as i know is just a bare SRT4 with stripes painted on it.
Insurance is a shot in the dark as far as cost because age, driving record, location, all play a big part in the cost of insurance for an auto. Obviously, you being in philly is going to cost you a lot more than if you lived next door to me. I would think that next year you could probably find them some in the $10k range, you see them every so often now, but there seems to be a pretty heavy following which will keep the price suspended for a while. Those are my thoughts anyhow. You lookin to get rid of the honda already? have you seen the light?

i dont take turns above 20mphish because i have a wide tire on the rim... i cant launch the car on street tires so any of the power that i do make cannot be delivered efficiently unless im at the track...
i mean i love it and i hate it... im afraid to beat on it because its very fragile...
already on my second transmission and im only 20,000 miles into ownership.... im gonna snap an axle when i put slicks on, its just meh.
i want to get a 240sx, 91ish style, something i can abuse/cheaper... i pay way too much for this car since i got it new which may influence my decision, i dont think theres any srt4s on this board making the same kind of power i am so... you may want to ask other people with the mod range your looking for

Insurance in quakertown WILL be less than philly, but its something I can live with lol. Nothing against the honda, but i grow my cars out very fast, or just plain out get tired of them. I am a bit concerned with what Mr Eh said though, because there IS truth in it. A lot of people that get those cars beat the life out of them, and basically what I will be in the market for will be a breathing carcass.

Well you gotta pay to play. Its not an indestructable car, just like any car, but it has its advantages. I think Ray would be very useful here because he probbably has srt-4s come through his shop on a daily basis.

OK, I am looking for as much information on the SRT-4 as possible. I dont mean information from Dodge, but information from actual owners. Mods you have, horsepower numbers, gas milage, reliability, milage, electronics, recalls, pros, cons, and pretty much anything that you can think of.

1. What exactly are the "stage 1, 2, 3" packages and are they better than the aftermarket parts offered (I believe the stages are offered by Mopar)
Exaclty like what Vypurr said. The Mopar kits offer a plug and play reliability that you will not find anywhere else for the SRT. They are not always the best for making the most amount of HP, but they will be reliable
2. What milage do you have on your SRT, and what problems has it given you so far.
Currently my car has 37xxx miles on it. I bought it last March with 52 miles on it. I know it's a lot of driving in one year. Overall I haven't had any issues with the car other then your normal maintance.
3. Ride quality
No Comment, I'm currently riding on Mopar Stage 3 CO's so I can't give a fair comparison any more. I don't even remember what the stock suspension feels like
4. Insurance payments
220 a month full coverage on my own plan. I currently am sitting with 8 points on my lisence and will be 21 next week
5. What is the difference between the regular srt-4, the ACR, and the Commemorative Edition
ACR - comes equiped with adjustable Tokico Struts, thicker sways, 16" BBS wheels with 225 tires from the factory
C.E. - nothing different about it other then it's white with dual blue racing strips
Also, if you had to guess, what would you say would be the projected price for an SRT-4 in 2008. There are a lot of things that can go into play here, but just a ballpark figure.
you'll be looking at around 10-15 by the time you go to buy. SRT owners are killing the resale value by dropping the prices so much to get a sale
I'll be nice and give you some honest answers. The first of which would be I don't know if your ready for an SRT. Please do not take any offense to that statement. I am just basing that off of what I've seen you poston the forums.

Insurance is going to be high no matter what. Its almost always in the top 10 most expensive cars to insure because of how much power it makes and the average person who drives it is young and inexperienced.
Like I said mine was 1300/year because it was in my father's name. I was 17 when I bought it, and insurance for myself was 3000-4000/year. That was full coverage because it was brand new and I had a loan on it.

Another alternative would be an Impreza WRX
1. Reliability yes, bang for your buck, no.
2. 45K. Blew the motor up after 40K miles of 30psi with a GT40 turbo.
3. Sucks. To get the most out of the car the suspension needs to be tweaked to the point of jarring your fillings out.
4. $200ish a month, but i'm in Philly
5. ACR has no radio and the mopar suspension.
Why are you asking these questions? IMHO, if you are going to spend the money and want something that is going to be fast out of the box with minimal skill, get a STI or an EVO. SRT's are about the hardest cars to control that i've driven to date. The torque steer takes a gorilla to launch correctly, you can't get traction with anything less then a MT drag radial, and good luck driving it in inclement weather.
Not that I would trade in any of the fun that I've had with my SRT, but if I had to do it over again, I would get a STI.

Here is where I can make a fair comparison...
From a dig, the WRX will win.
From a roll, my stock SRT-4 pulls on my stock STi.
The SRT tranny is WAYY more solid than the WRX and if you drag race it a lot, you will blow up the WRX 5-Speed.

1. What exactly are the "stage 1, 2, 3" packages and are they better than the aftermarket parts offered (I believe the stages are offered by Mopar)
Stage 1 is a PCM, for an 03 stage 1 is a PCM and stock injectors that 04/05's already have.
stage two comes with or without toys. (high octane mode, IC sprayer). injectors, wga (wastegate), PCM
here is a better description of stage three for you
http://www.modernperformance.com/dcx/srt_stage3kit.shtml
2. What milage do you have on your SRT, and what problems has it given you so far.
I had 30k miles on mine i think. no issues. third grinded a tad
3. Ride quality
depends on what you do to it. generally its a good ride
4. Insurance payments
depends on if your insurance calls it a neon or an srt-4
5. What is the difference between the regular srt-4, the ACR, and the Commemorative Edition
Also, if you had to guess, what would you say would be the projected price for an SRT-4 in 2008. There are a lot of things that can go into play here, but just a ballpark figure.
ACR comes with the 16" rims and tires instead of normal 17". ACR also has amazing adjustable suspension
you can find a decent srt-4 for 12k right now.

i think tiny is also reffering to bang for the buck meaning convenience factors as well as handling and such.
tiny and i basically got our srt's the same week i was 22 years old when i got mine i was looking for fun and thats it. i made the change because im now 28 years old and things are different, i need more of the convenience and not the suspension that will require me to have back surgery by the time im 30 to get a car to handle right. if i would of waited and got an 04 sti im sure it would have been payed off by now and i would be continuing to enjoy it on a daily basis as i do my current one.

I was 17 when I bought my SRT-4 and I never got into a single accident, and I never got a single ticket.
But then again, I wasn't some dickhead who thought my car was the fastest ever. I respected the power it had. And the biggest factor was that I was scared to get into an accident or get a ticket because I knew that I could not afford to pay any more on top of a $20,000 car and insurance.
So not all 17 year olds will wreck them, but I bet a lot do! Especially if their parents pay for them or they are just so cheap that you don't really care.

<--- is not judging anyone. I am stating the simple facts and giving my personal opinion. I am just stating that an inexperienced driver in a high powered FWD car can lead to disaster. Go ahead and just search SRT forums for the numerous threads on owners passing away while driving the car or wreaking it. It takes some getting used to the characteristics of the car. Throttle lift over steer is a bitch and has been the end of numerous SRT's. The suspension on the SRT isn't the worst, but it also isn't the best. With the speed that the SRT has to offer you are much quicker to get yourself in a position where the car is at it's limits and then completely out of control.
ZeriousTT - your right the SRT-4 isn't the quickest car on the road, and I never claimed for it to be. I am just saying that with an inexperienced driver the car can lead to a not to nice ending. Also with a top speed from the factory of 160, the car can get you into a lot of trouble, and if your not aware of how to handle the situation it can get out of your hands extremely quickly.

Torque steer has also OWNED many newbs in the SRT! Not too many other cars have as much torque steer as the SRT, and not too many new drivers expect the steering wheel to pull out of their hands when they gun it!

I've driven an SRT before and I really didn't think it was that difficult to control. Not "that difficult"... I could easily see someone be overpowered by the torque steer and even driving it around moderately I could feel the tendency of it to do so.
Are they quick cars? Of course. It all goes back to whatever you like and the driver is the ultimate factor when it comes down to it. The feel of the SRT is completely different to any car I've driven before but I had no problems driving around one without having driven one before.

i've only had MAJOR close calls with torque steer... like 4 times... this past week...
lol sometimes going into second it'll jump over a lane if your not careful.
novice & srt4 dont mix, altho some adultism goes a long way
i went from a grand am 4 cylinder to this and never had any issues

I beat the ever living piss out of my SRT-4 and it just begs for more.
My car is stock however. I haven't had a problem.
I've been race'n cars since I was 16, and I'm 28 now. The SRT-4 IMHO is not a handful. However if you're a retard the car is going to understeer and you're gonna kiss a tree.
If you want cheap reliable speed, then it's a pretty good choice.
Modding it? Meh I dunno. Modding FWD to me is a waste of time. But if you gotta pick a FWD platform, then it's a good choice. You got 2.4liters to play with in a pretty light car. I've seen stage 3 cars at Crapitol Raceway go 11's. You can't really argue with that.

You can get any version of the SRT4 in any of the stages from the factory, you just have to order it that way,
nope.
stage kits are dealer installed, with their own seperate install costs.
And the comemorative version as far as i know is just a bare SRT4 with stripes painted on it.
plus blue interior stitching

In all honesty, if I am shifting hard, my civic does it a bit as well. I have found myself at least 3 times shifting and having the car pull VERY hard to the left, and I only have 115 horsepower. Il want to drive one before I go to buy it anyway...not hard, just maybe a mile or so and see how it feels under daily driving conditions. anyone wana help me out? i doubt if i go to a dealership with no cash they will let me drive an srt

Unless of course i can find a 300C hemi...pearl white...with HID's...and black leather...cause this ma ****a be gone within the next heart beat

Don't be so sure. I had planty of offers of 18k when I sold mine 6 months ago. They are worth more money stock than they are modded.

yea but srts in my condition are getting more and more rare. 19k miles, stage 2, no body work at all. i seriously havent come across another one that has been this well taken care of. this is how i look at it, its up for sale for the right price, just like my bike. and since i know that im going to regret selling both of them, i will at least get what i want for them. if no one wants to pay me $18k for it, then no one will get it. its that simple, but if you are looking for a well maintained, clean, low mileage, unabused, tastefully modded srt4, then this is the one. and if not, then ill keep it forever i guess.

almost 25,000 miles
stock clutch is going
stock tires need to be replaced

ok gas milage
car payments are too much
insurance isn't bad at 24 ($150 a month)
ran 14 seconds flat stock
gonna be under 14 seconds now with $300 worth of parts and $150 worth of work by ray and will.
love the car
need something cheaper since I need to save money
