Moon shots

Any tips for moon shots. Im kinda new at this and wanted to work on some night shots...tried some tonight but got nothing. I have D50 with a 55-200 lens. I also have a 75-300 lens.

hmm... tough subject. the 300 isnt going to be very tight but might as well give it a try and see how it works. be mindful of your shutter speed because the moon does move faster than you'd think, and of course, use a tripod. its the kind of thing where practice makes perfect so you might as well just get out there and see what you can come up with.

I have the tripod...i'll have to play with it. What lens is generally used for this type of shots?

ha, a telescope would be good :). seriously, they make adapters so you can mount a camera to the rear of a telescope. otherwise, maybe a 300 with a 2x converter would be pretty good... that'll be 600mm obviously.

I have to just take a day and go try things....i have a pretty cool site to shoot from at work, I run a 500,000 sq ft building built in the 50's on the edge of the city that has a awesome view from the roof. I think it would be awesome at night.
