as you may or may not know, when we all took the trip to sonic last month, there were some problems at the toll booth when we went to get off of the turnpike. what had happened was, at least to me, was that i was signaled to go into a specific booth lane, even though it was closed at the time. i followed several people through it, and several people were behind me, it was an easypass only lane, and i do not have easy pass. when i was in the booth, i didn't see anytype of form or paper for me to take so that i could pay the $5 toll to whcih the money was already in my hand w/ the ticket. today in the mail, i recieved a ticket for $40 for not paying any toll whatsoever and going through the easypass lane without easy pass. is there anyway to get out of this? i'm not denying that i went through the booth w/out paying, just that i had no choice due to the situation at hand. what should i do?
thanks in advance

If it's worth the $40 to try to prove that you're not guilty, see if you can find out who was working in the toll booth lane or who the officer was on the scene and use them to corroborate your story.

because of my procrastination, the ticket still hasn't been paid (no it is not overdue), would it be acceptable to penndot if i sent in the cost of the toll ( no the ticket ) with an explanation of what happened? im assuming if i choose to go to court it would be in the general area of where the "crime" occurred, which is over an hour from my house, so i'm not trying to do that, but just the same i don't want to pay $40 for a $5 toll. thank you.
