that's right, ToyotaTat, the kid w/ the fastest and most JDM car on TST, has finally done a journal of my piece!

my HUGE mod list: :screwy:
Engine
drop-in k&n air filter. i think i got about a 5000hp gain from it. and that's it. nothing else on the engine.
Exterior
custom Maaco paint job, black w/ the metallic flake
eagle alloy wheels
O.E.M. styled driving/fog lights
TST license plate frame (yea, that's on my mod list, it's ballin so shut your mouth)

got the car in November of '05 just before getting my license after deciding that i didn't want to drive a Geo Metro w/ a 3cyl. engine and a whoppin 55hp engine, it was just too fast. my dad had a friend who was selling this so i snagged it. 1990 Toyota Camry LE w/ it's 100% stock 4cyl and 138,000 at the time of purchase.
(i'm not a photographer. i don't know anything about photography nor do i care too much for it. if you don't like the style or quailty of my Kodak EasyShare pictures then feel free to come on over to my house and take some "real" pictures.)

lucky for me, it was a rusted
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n183/ToyotaTat/Camry/2209919_12.jpg

sent it out to Maaco for the body work, and while it was there i had my ballin ass 14" Eagle Alloy wheels put on,
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n183/ToyotaTat/Camry/Wheels.jpg

which then had the cam' lookin like this

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n183/ToyotaTat/Camry/Grill.jpg
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n183/ToyotaTat/Camry/ClearCornered-1.jpg
i just realized ^ the last pic above is photchopped, i'm not clear cornered although i'd like to be

over the summer i had the sound system done, nothing special, a cheap Panasonic head unit, new front speakers (infinity kappa series 3 1/2")
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n183/ToyotaTat/Camry/2209919_5.jpg

mtx sub, 12" Thunder 4500, and a no-name 600watt amp
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n183/ToyotaTat/Camry/2209919_23.jpg

recently replaced the panasonic head unit w/ a brand new Pioneer and added on the Samsung Nexus XM player, which i love.

over the summer i removed the TOYOTA badging from the grill, and then esunbaboon and i did a photoshoot (photos were done by him)

http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n183/ToyotaTat/Photoshoot/Graciepjotoshoot008.jpg

then about a month or so ago i picked up a set of generic O.E.M. styled lights and mounted those on, all that leading to what many TST members have referred to as the Pimp Camry, the pimpmobile, the tatmobile, etc. to look like this as it sits today now w/ 151,000 on it.

the paint itself isn't bad, but the body work sucks donkey balls, even though you can't see it in the pics. maaco had cost about $1000 for the body work and paint together

do a junkyard turbo setup on that baby, nothing big just enough to get a pound or two of boost. wouldnt even need an intercooler and you could add fuel via a saab cold start 5th injector wired up to a pressure switch

that would add what? 10hp? not worth spending the money on it. just throw in a badass system and call it a day.

most engines make around 6-7 hp per psi (conservative) consider that most wastegates are set for at least 5 psi and you are looking at 30-35 ponies maybe more and a decent boost in low end tq. all for about the same amount of money as a cold air intake. the engine should also become more efficient in non wot travel burning fewer dinosaurs

*UPDATE*
so driving home from my g/f's house friday night on bridgetown pike, my car decided to break down half-way up a hill. AWESOME! didn't feel like anything was wrong, no wierd noises or smells, i was stumped. called my dad, and then after about 30 minutes of staring at the engine (using flashlights because this is at 10pm) and trying to start it over and over again, we (he) dtermined it was most likely the timing belt. so all day today (sunday 4/29), while i was at work, my dad spent 7 hours replacing the timing belt, alternator, water pump, and fan belt. what had happend was a bearing got loose in the water pump, and the timing belt was destroyed. so now i have the fun task of doing yard work to pay him off for the parts because i am broke and can't give him any cash. but the good thing is, it's back running again like a champ.

never thought i'd say this, but i hate my car. after my little breakdown situation, i thought it was all fixed. turns out it isnt. now there's a problem w/ an oil leak of which the source can't be found. it's a long story and help is needed.

UPDATE:
no more oil leak or anything mechanically wrong (for today), the car is running great. just took my first trip w/ it since fixing everything, drove to L.B.I. and back with no problems, everythings good right now.
I GOT MY FENDER ALL DONE! that saturday (5/26) i finished around 3PM. in the process, three bolts broke off in the body, prob cause of being hit and that they're 17 years old, they wouldn't come out w/ pliers or needle noses, so i drilled into them, breaking three drill bits in the process, but in the end i prevailed and got it all done in time for prom, which was amazing, and although i didn't get laid in my backseat, i still got laid so it was a great night
for now i'm just going to leave the fender unpainted and in black primer, i don't really feel like spending the money to have it painted because in august it's no longer mine, nor do i want to be without it for the couple days.
so now that my car is back to how it should be, i have nothing to bitch about, except that i have nothing to bitch about.

rattle can the fender. If you do it right it doesn't turn out bad at all.

my paint has a bit of a metallic flake so it still won't quite look right, i'm not too worried about it, im happier with an unpainted and undented fender then i was with a dented yet painted one

I had a similar ride for my first import:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b222/danronian/NewRimsHonda011.jpg

It was an '89 Accord Lx-i. I just wish I would have got it painted and lowered it. It would have been that much cooler. I remember I custom made a Cold-air-intake for it, installed a short shifter, installed a system in it, and put wires and a coil in. I thought I was the **** (not really, but it was fun for my first import).

I think if you put some yellow fogs (mine were $12 APCs from Advance) on it it would be more styled as an old-school car, like it is. I like it.

Danronian

Sorry to here about your fender and breakdown. That **** sucks. I remember my Accord had the diff go, and once the oil plug fell out and all the oil drained out...funny stuff not told to the buyer.

ToyotaTat
06-07-2007, 11:04 PM
i have a set of blue fogs on right now, they help pretty well at night so i'm fine with them, i had almost forgotten that the fender was still unpainted, its on the passenger side so i hardly see it even so, it's still black

ToyotaTat
05-07-2008, 11:07 AM
nothing too exciting but my car doesn't change very often... i have some plans for this summer, only cosmetic
If all goes according to plan the fogs will be removed, painting the grill black, new wheels...?, and hopefully tint if i make it to SOG. still no performance mods, i just don't find it necessary with this car yet, not at 170,000 miles.

Got rid of the camry, sold it for $1g with 207,000 on it. Picked up a '99 Corolla w/ only 30,000 on it (pics to come) and couldn't be happier. no major plans for now, just cosmetics, def. want to get an '01 bumper for it. just thought i'd say hello upon returning to the site

just broke 53,000 last week. just got a new head unit along w/ amps speakers sub etc...
SOG did the tint about a month ago, back half only, it looks great.
intake, wheels, and various suspension mods to come, just not sure exactly what yet.
i'm rollin on stock steelies right now, but i'm lookin put on a larger Toyota wheel, prob from a camry or newer corolla.

i realize the pics aren't professional quality, but i'm a social worker not a photographer.

the original head unit sits higher where the black cup holders are now at. stock has a storage compartment where my head unit sits.

I like the Delco style Double Din setup. It appears you've got a CE cause your mirrors are black. Should get them painted to match the car along with the door handles. i know we discussed some of the other stuff but there's a lot of info i still need to pass on to ya.
