well i got my second tint ticket today so i am getting rid of it, when he put the meter on my window it came up with 36, and the cop told me i should be no less than 70. Does anyone know of any places in the downingtown/west chester area that do tint removal, or is their an easy way to take it off myself.

A razor and some spray should work. I dont know what kind but I know thats the DIY way. As for location for a place I dont know. Hit up car pretty.

seriously insanely easy.

take baby shampoo and put like 3 squirts into a water bottle, fill the rest with water, squirt that on the window and take a razor blade to that bitch. You start in the top corner of the window to and it should pull right off, to get the glue and everything off, keep spraying that stuff on there and keep using the razor blade. It's pretty easy. Most tint shops will charge you like $30 to remove the front windows.

Are you removing the whole tint job or just the front?

The easiest way I think is to use diluted paint thinner in a spray bottle, spray it on a rag after U pull the tint off and the glue will wipe right off. U don't want to spray it directly on the window because paint thinner on the cloth in your car could bleach it. Using a razor will take U all day, I used to work in a place putting on and removing tint among other things and we always just wiped the glue off with paint thinner on a rag. Tint laws are getting really strict now. You have to allow at least 70% light inside the car, you can no longer tint your windshield, and you can no longer use chrome tint although they still sell it at autozone, ect. Only thing they really still allow is colored tint, red, blue, yellow, ect., but it still has to allow 70% light in because the police need to be able to see in the car.

Heat gun on the outside of the window and a razor blade.

dont use a razor blade on your rear window, youll ruin your defroster! i always had to use a lot of anti adhesive, i forget what specifically its called its in a aerosal can has blue and black background lol, the razor blade doesnt take that long, but its a pain in the ass and it takes a few passes. this isnt really that hard of a process, but its deffinately the least fun thing to do to your windows.

yeah seriously if its your back windshield heat it up and then start at the top where there are no defrost lines. and it should peel off, then let it soak in a anti adhesive and then use a sos pad and softly scrub it off

I feel for you! I used to have to remove tint at detail shop I worked at long ago. The dealers wanted a stock appearance. It was the worst job in the place and it sucked the big one!

Edit: This is why my mother wrote me a doctor's note for tint and it never failed me. Do you have really light blue/green eyes? There is a medical condition related to really light eyes and light sensitivity and the cops can't do **** about it! I had double layered 5% all the way around.

Did they tell you to take it off the rear window also? Or just the front doors?

holy.... 5% thats ridiculous. my friend has 5% and 18% on her back windows and that is ridiculous, she also has her windshield tinted.

does your mom want to write me note?? :)

Cops have caught on... That is why they make "clear" tint which blocks the UV rays now. Cops here at school (WyoTech) dont care what your excuse is, even if you are from another state. Your eyes arent sensitive to light... just UV rays...

Well another great invention that will wipe that sticky glue from the tint right off is some stuff called Goof Off. It removes crayon, blood, tar, paint, glue, ect. You can buy it at Kmart, Walmart, Ect. I think it actually works better than paint thinner. Use some of that and the green side of a dish sponge. It'll wipe right off. No razor needed.

Well I have been through numerous states and no problem. I guess the cop didn't like you. And one more thing are you a doctor?? Either way the cop can always give you a piece of paper, for anything. Having it hold up is another.

My brother got a ticket the other day for his tint. It was at 13%?

He has to remove it and then the cop will remove the fine.

they didn't tell me to take it off that back...they can't do anything about that, just the front two windows. I am going to do it this weekend, i was pissed when i saw a mercedes not even 100 yards from where i got pulled over that was pitch black. Does he pull him over...i think not, such bull****

They probably profile these cars there the same way they do in the town next to me.

lots of window cleaner and steel wool. I detail for a living so i take this stuff off all the time. steel wool wont ruin the back window either and it eliminates the need to use harmful nasty chemicals. put a towel under the back window tho cause that glue is nasty when it comes off and u dont want it getting onto anything.

i am not taking it off of the back windows, just the front driver side and passenger side

i took my tint off this morning...the tint itself peeled right off but i spent about 20 minutes removing the adhesive from each window with windex and a razor blade
