You should load all of your photo's in external files. It will speed up load times by atleast 90%

Nevermind, i figured you had programmed the flash yourself. Without the .FLA file and some knowledge of how it works I don't think you will be able to do it.

The fading in of the pictures needs to go. By the time the picture is at full opacity, I'm already clicking next.

Your contact info page looks rushed. The typewriter effect is dated and an email address is not the text to do that on.

My first impression is that I didn't really like the font on the loading screen. Maybe as you compile more photos you could have a slide show or some type of collage of your work while the page is loading, that usually makes the load time seem to go by faster.

Other than that it looks good, I might just try and bring more life to by playing around with some borders o more coloring as opposed to just the font, black border, and images.

I am no expert on web design, and props for taking the time to make your own site. I would love to do that one of these days when I have to time and actual content to build one.

im gonna be brutally honest. that site will have no impact.

studies have proven over and over you have to show the surfer SOMETHING within 5 seconds or they move on. i waited at least 10 seconds on your site and it was up to 3%.

and flash = no indexing on google

Pretty sweet. I just bought a domain Monday. Planning on building one with Flash. Run into any big issues I should look forward to?

I totally agree. Unfortunately if you don't send a user to the site (they're just looking randomly,) they'll be clicking out before the page loads.
And the google indexing is a big thing... I know lots of design and photography people using all-flash sites, and for design in particular it's a good way to show your creativity, but flash has it's ups and downs.

Have you used flash before? It's a lot to just jump in and try to make it work like you want. Best of luck.

yeah... no way i'm going to sit there and wait for it to load... that kind of load time really isnt acceptable for a site unless its offering free BJs. do you know where i can find any sites like that by the way?

and to ask a question to those who brought this up... when you design a site in flash, but you want it to be indexed in google as well, how do you go about that? build a mirror site in html as well?

I do freelance web design and there are a few ways to go about integrating and Flash. Yes, creating an HTML site for non flash users is one way about it, but if you really want the main site to be flash then that doesn't help. But what you can do is just put the flash movie into and HTML page, as far as the indexing, just make sure you still utilize keywords and have plenty of text with hyperlinks on the page along with the flash. I offered to give him a hand to tweak his site. But there are pros and cons to everything, you just gotta choose your battles.

this was the first site ive ever made so i knew it was gonna be very basic and plain going into it just because i had no clue what i was doing and i wanted it done to be able to show my friends some of my pictures. i know the loading time sucks and all that but i dont know how to host the files externally to speed it up. me and grimm are talkin to help make it better but thanks for all the input guys

The site is to plain and doesnt capture your imagination specially since your doing photography. Also, make sure you have a home button on every page that you load for easy hopemapge access, i had to click on your banner to get back home to the main menu. No one gets it right the first time, keep at it and just go on google and go to otehr peoples sites to see what they are doing and get some ideas from them. Good Job

I agree with everyone else, this setup is a huge improvement from what it was. I too would really only suggest a thumbnail index off to the side or something so the viewer has other ways of viewing the pics other that the left and right arrow buttons.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for all the compliments, an index for the pics is in the works, I've just been a little busy with other projects, and finding a place to live, but I haven't forgotten.
