View Full Version : Biggest turbo you would run without Stand-alone?

Well this is something I've contemplated, and I would like to hear some other opinions.

For instance, an Srt-4 2.4l (no stroker) but with:

built motor (all coated and forged internals)
Head work with 272/272 cams
standard bore-> 8.8 CR.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, no stand-alone.

This car will utilize a stage one computer with stock 6250 redline.

What is the biggest turbo you would go with [considering track performance more than street performance but not so much full on race with race gas, lag time, etc...]????

Some turbos to consider:

-DBB50 trim
-GT3076r
-t3/60-1 .63 a/r, .82 a/r
-t3/t04r .63 a/r, .82 a/r
-HP61 .82 a/r, stg 5 wheel NON DBB
-GT3082r
-GT3582r
-GT40
-Sc-6152s, Sc-6152e

Thanks, lets see some good feedback on this thread, if you can.

Does the Stage one computer do any kind of timing control or do you have any way of controlling timing?

There's no way of lifting your stock redline without going standalone?

I never, ever plan on switching to a standalone on my car. I know of people doing well with DSMLink (which is what I use) on rather large turbos.

I would vote, but I really don't know what kind of engine management programs you can get on an SRT4 and what you're capable of controlling withing going standalone. Giving us that kind of information would make it a little more easier to vote.

Pcm will control everything. No way to lift the redline without a full stand-alone..which I plan to do later. Thanks for the responses!!

I'm leaning towards the Hp61 .63 a/r, SC6152s, or 60-1 .82 a/r

GT3076R with .82 exh. hands down. You'll retain great spool and be good to roughly 5-550 whp.
