What is better to use for tails? I hear that niteshades doenst last long because it was designed for toy models and such. Some people have used window tint film on their tails. Who has done either, and what has worked for you?

Niteshades works fine, just clean the lights good and spray some light coats. Then use a clear over it to give it a gloss finish and to help protect it. Otherwise it could scratch and it will fade over time...

okay

if you're going to use nightshades DO IT RIGHT OR IT WILL LOOK LIKE ****!

i bought some and tried to do mine without listening to anyones advice and ended up ruining my tail lights, i had to buy a new set because the ones i ruined were FUBAR'd

first off, LIGHTLY sand your headlights with some high grain paper ( iirc ) like 2000 grain or whatever, the **** that feels smooth. the paint will adhere a little better to a course surface, some people don't agree with that step but i find it to be true. then get some rubbing alcohol to clean the lights very very good. next, LIGHTLY coat them, don't spray thick or it WILL run and look like ****. spray it so lightly you can't even tell it's on until you have a couple coats on, let it dry for at least 20 minutes between coats. keep spraying VERY THIN layers until you have them as dark as you would like, then let them dry compleltly and hit them with a couple coats of clear coat ( or better yet, take them to a body shop and let them do it ) then wetsand them to a smooth glossy finish

alternativly, use film. i'm using film simply because it's impossible to **** up with unless you're a retard, and if i ever get sick of it i can remove it in 5 seconds ( or if i get pulled over hint hint it's illegal to tint them )

Film can trap heat on the plastic and crack it. Always nightshade never use film, tint, rockblockers etc on plastic.

Whatever you do, please don't post in week or so saying some dumb ass rear ended you. Darkened tail lights look good but they definitely decrease another driver's ability to see your taillights.

I was considering 1 light coat just to give them a slightly nicer look...not going overboard with this. Maybe 2 coats.
