I was cruising along the White Horse Pike at around 35-40 MPH and gingerly shifted from 2nd to 3rd then I heard a pop and then a clicking sound came from the frond end.....it sounded like the axle popped. I coasted into the nearest parking lot. The car seems to go through 1st, 2nd and reverse just fine (I obviously wasn't about to go fast enough to test 3-5 gear) except you get that clicking noise anytime the car is in motion whether it's in gear or in Neutral. It definately sounds like it's coming from the underside of the car. I haven't had any work done to the car in the past 6 months other than PM and an alignment 2 weeks ago at the tire shop.

try to troubleshoot a bit to narrow it down... start by seeing if its speed related. does the clicking speed up relative to the speed the car is travelling? or is it rpm related? if not, when does and doesn't it happen.
if it is speed related, then chances are its external which is good. check your tire for a nail or rock, wheel for clearance, caliper, rotor, entire axle, etc. if there are any rub marks you'll probably see them.

Hmmm.. how fast were you going in 1st and second? You may have something stuck in your tire. Your speed in first, second, or reverse may not create the clicking from something stuck. The pop, I have no clue. I have had stuff like that happen to me only to find out a huge rock or somthing lodged itself into my tread, it will drive you nuts.

Yeah, Troll's helping me acquire an STI 6speed> Yeah I gotta sell a kidney but I might as well go for it..... I mean it doesn't make sense to put a stocker back in since I broke one already. Hopefully we'll, have it in time to install it next Thursday 3/15. I can't stand driving this PT Cruiser any more! I want my baby back!

that sucks for renn....i still have my warranty.....the dude just started cracking up the one day i showed up to subaru with my car. he told me i was crazy, and said he wasnt going to void my warranty.
i thought i broke my suspension. but when he put it on a lift, we found out my downpipe hanger keeps snapping due to alot of torque....or something. ha!
now my turbo is blown, HOPEFULLY.
AND i pray its not the engine.

cant help much with the rest but as far as that goes, if you dont already, look into group n engine and tranny mounts, or if you want to be more hardcore and go to solid mounts, look into the cuscos. with the other mods you have i think you'll find it to be a beneficial upgrade if you havent already done it.

haha, dude jourdan. The Hanger for my HKS did that too! I thought I blew an axle or something. this was last year, I have since sawzalled it off. Are you seriously bumping to a bigger turbo.
Back on Topic, I destroyed 1st at the track last april, They First voided my warranty because of my TBE (they claimed 40+hp, I said show me the money) and then told me I owed them almost 4 grand if I wanted it fixed. Then I had the Subaru manager from where I bought my car come and talk to the SOA Rep and the decided to split the work 50/50 and allow me to keep my warranty in good faith, But if anything goes wrong I have to bring it back to them to fix it. I like the 6mt idea better, Its very durable and more reliable, Not to mention it really wont hurt your resale if you choose to let it go. PPGs no one but an enthusiast will buy.
