I actually lost my cable, or someone took it from work and thought it could work on their car.

:(

I am gonna buy another one, in the next month. I hate not having it

Volkswagen Audi Group Communications Tool.

I've been looking at getting one since I have my MkV GTI now. There are a bunch of things I want to adjust on mine, but I'm debating whether I'll use it enough to justify the price.

I need one to run logs for custom chip.

MKV's really need the HEX+CAN one, which is $350 plus tax and shipping.

Are you chipped/reflashed at all? If so the PCV or DV may be damaged and causing and underboost code.

Might also be the intake flap malfunction that others are getting. One of those two seems to be the majority of CEL causes on the new MKV's

I have done nothing other than some simple vag com changes which were months ago (all I did was stuff like get rid of the horn honk when locking etc).

So how do I go about fixing this flap issue? and what is it?

7. Tumble flap failure
Background:
The tumble flap motor is prone to failure. This is probably the most common problem I’ve seen when scanning cars with the vag-com.

Symptoms:
You may see the following DTC’s
-012599 - Intake Manifold Runner Control: Basic Setting not Completed
P3137 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded – Intermittent
-012691 - Intake Manifold Runner Control: Open Stop outside of Valid Range
P3193 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent
-008196 - Intake Manifold Flap; Bank 1: Stuck Open
P2004 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
- 012600 - Intake Manifold Runner Control: Regulation Deviation
P3138 - 008 - Implausible Signal - MIL ON

Solution: The intake manifold flap motor needs to be replaced.

This should be covered under warranty if it indeed is the problem

Also, check out this thread for a summary of things that seem to happen in the MKV the most.

Oddly, I haven't had any of those problems with 17k on the car.

word...do you have a vag com? or know anyone around here that does

Nope, can't say that I have one. I never invested in one cause I didn't have a laptop for it, my current laptop is an ibook g4. However I'm ordering a new one soon so might invest in it then.

I couldn't find anyone in the area that had a Hex-Can VagCom that will work on the MKV's. Unfortunately the older versions don't work on the MKV.

Im probably gonna need to meet up with someone to tweak a couple things on my mkv, but I am going to wait until after I take it to vw to fix my list of 11 problems. I can meet up anywhere around Philly, King of Prussia, or Warminster, and willing to drive a little. Anyone around that area willing to meet up in a week or two? Will compensate somehow of course.

I've got the micro-can which works for the MKV. I live in Limerick. I am not home from 6:00am to 11:00pm during the week, but I am usually around on the weekends.
