ha... fiiiiiine.

http://www.bryantroll.com/other/studiogt30r/gt30r3.jpg

on the first i was just trying to figure out what distance and what power i needed to white out the background completely... after i achieved that i wanted to see what kind of balance and what distance to work with for a gel to expose properly.

Agreed, really cool Bryan. Those are definitely better than most stock photos, no question.
I just started with this type of lighting (but using 3x5 film, haha) I want a setup like that in my house, but our labs will do until I'm out of school.

Both pics look real good, but I especially like the second one.

Thats a great idea to use the plexi-glass, it gives the image a cool effect. How was the blue background achieved? Color gels?

Keep up the good work.

because i was waiting for you to buy it :)

part of a perrin gt30r kit that is for sale!! :)

the plexiglass is my little secret, but my tst homies can know about it i suppose. the colored background was done with a gel... pretty straightforward once you get it to look how you want.

thanks for the compliments... it was like 11pm and i was bored so i set it up. i wish i had a room that was a dedicated studio so i didnt have to set it up and break it down every time i wanted to shoot, but oh well.

told you when I saw you but Ill tell you again. Amazing pictures.

question: Is there actually any buisness opportunity for advertising photography? This picture would look great for a retailer's website, just wondering if they would actually hire someone to take pics for them.

Why did you blur out your kitchen? Lol cool pics what lens were you using... 17-55 or 50?

TROLL
02-23-2007, 12:28 PM
look in the exif data to find out what lens i used :)

i think i had the 12-24 on for the first shot and the 17-55 for the 2nd but i'm not positive. by the way i realized what exif viewer i have on my desktop and i like... its called opanda iexif 2.

as far as getting paid for stuff like this... sure, there's a ton of it out there. retailers wouldnt do it usually, just manufacturers, which means i probably wouldnt get any garrett contracts. something like a local jeweler or craft person, painter, sculpter, or other local 'manufacturer' would definitely need work like this.

and as far as first v. second... i was just going for basics on the first, then i turned up the heat a bit for the second. i like the second one more too, but i was just aiming for a white background on the first which is a very popular look.

I am trying to think of cool stuff to put in there. Yeah i have opanda.

white balance is off unless you were going for that extremely warm color setting.

Brian, these look good. The first shot is very nice and the background looks perfect. The second shot however, "showcases" the turbo better with the reflection and gradient background. Product shots usually do nothing for me, but these are great.

My bad "Sir spells alot". I know you have alot of room to talk since your grammar is so perfect. When you learn to write, you can then teach me how to spell.

Sorry for the mis spelling Bryan. Thank the grammar police in the post above for correcting me.

i like rice

Instead of paper, you can also go to a fabric shop and purchase a white cotton sheet to use as a background.

TROLL
09-08-2007, 11:59 PM
i have one of those too... its not a problem with a black backdrop but when using the white one i have the inevitible folds and ripples always show shadows, thus making it not pure solid white any more.

I was doing them, then everyone thought I should give others a chance to run them...so I did...and nobody came thru. I'll be more than happy to run them again. I don't mind at all.
