View Full Version : Failed Inspection

Everytime I take my Integra to inspection, it fails because 3 readiness tests/codes are not ready. They told me my car had no problems and no CEL, that I just need to drive it.

I've put about 700 miles on the car so far and those 3 sensors still will not show ready. I contacted various Acura Dealers and they all said they can't help me.

What the hell is going on here? Anybody else ever have this problem..? Suggestions?

Thanks

Do you have any mods done to the ecu?

If you cant figure out a way to get your car to pass for cheap i can get you a sticker for $$$.

They can pass you anyways! If you try it 3 times I believe, you can get an waiver! What year is your car?

^doubtful! I know that subarus w/ jdm motors/ecus have the same problem.....they pass all emmisson test but fail a couple readiness codes and cant get a sticker unless iirc they get a receipt from a mechanic for over $300ish to try and repair the problem..... NJ inspection sucks

I've gone back more than 3 times.

They said I must keep coming back till it passes, and no money should be spent fixing it since there is nothing to "fix".

I'm going to try some specific drive cycles to try and get atleast 1 out of these three to light. If I just get one, atleast I'll pass and I'll be happy.

DSM's have this problem too, but just with 1996 ecu's. Mine, being a 11/96 build date has this problem. I have no problem "passing" because I know the right people, but I do have the EXACT same problem as you. There is no reasonable fix for it. What we (DSM'ers) do is grab an ecu from the same car but a different model year. So if you have any buddies with the same car, you could swap out ecu's for a week or so just so you can run it through inspection. That is the only reasonable fix for this problem. And this will only work if your problem is model year specific like mine.

na is best!

i would contact penndot and let them know of the problem. i do inspections every day on cars with no problems but they still dont pass. by contacting penndot they can get software out to the stations that will let the car pass. i have driven customer cars for over 100 miles without setting all of the readiness flags. the system is still new for our area and the state needs to know of problem cars.

Might work if it was a PA inspection, but this is NJ I assume.

Have the Acura dealer to print you a drive cycle. Its going to be a pain in the ass to fallow but it will work. Some monitors can only be set if you fallow an exact procedure ex: temp, run time, worm up, hold at speeds. You’re probably having trouble setting your evap monitor. And depending on the year you can have 1 or 2 monitors not set and still pass.

if his problem is the same as mine, it won't work... and i believe up to two monitors was allowed.
