I have considered f/i in the past however I soon came to the realization that a s/c or turbo would only take this car to 220 @ 12psi. Building the internals and boosting a crazy amount could get me to a reasonable hp however, early on, I decided to concentrate on appearance instead since the prior route has proven to demonstrate diminishing returns

toyota's slogan for these was "looks fast". sadly it wasn't "it's fast". it would probably do 16-17sec in the 1/4.

It's a nice car no doubt. Not really a fan of celicas as a whole save for a few. This is one of those. I still really like how the dash is oriented on these

exactly! its main target was to compete with the honda civic to give people a sporty looking daily driver.

celicas have always been great cars tho. they have great handling and a great heritage. many people dont even realize the the supra really started out as a celica or that the turbo GT4 celica exists overseas.

not quick at all unfortunately - that's why I concentrated more on appearance mods... of course there are 7th gens out there that are very quick such as one being tuned as we speak who's owner claims at least 500 hp with a list of mods including:

Custom stroked 2ZZ engine
Custom Crower Rods
Custom Wiseco Pistons
Full P&P head
MWR Valves and Springs
ARP head and main studs

Custom Turbo kit
Custom manifold with external wastegate (tial 44mm)
GT-35R dual ball-bearing turbo
complete 3" straight exhaust
Apexi type muffler

C2power Tranny
ACT XT plate and 6 puck disc

SF fuel rail and fuel pressure system
RC engineering 750cc Injectors
Walboro fuel pump
Apexi Power FC

no kidding - I was meaning to tell you how jealous I was when I saw that swap you made... very nice. there are a few 7th gens I've heard of that have attempted the 3sgte conversion however your generation is perfect for it. what are you running in terms of numbers?

can you explain something about the 7th gen scene to me. its been bugging me for some time now. are most of the 7th gen owners just not aware of the 4th/5th/6th gens? i dont know how many 7th gen guys ive driven next to or talked to at a meet that didnt seem to have ANY clue as to what my car was. it shocks me because if a civic guy saw a jdm type-R or something of that nature, they would freak out and know exactly what it was. it never seems to happen with the 7th gen crew.

thanks man. the car made 247hp 270tq at the wheels. ive never been to a track, so i really dont know what to expect there. probably somewhere in the 13s depending on my skill behind the wheel and traction issues. maybe lower with slicks, who knows.

Oh no doubt that they are good cars. We all get shafted over here.... No GT4, no pre-02 WRXs/STis, no SR20 240s, no skyline, nothing...

*edit* How much does your car weigh? With that power you should be low 13s (if you can hook up well at the launch)

lagos

its around 2500-2700lb, more or less. ive seen different websites state different weight specs.

those of us who are really into the Celica are very much aware of the previous gens... actually, we occasionally have meets for all generation celicas to attend and I've met a few 6th gen owners like yourself. you probably have met the newbies who haven't done any research

see thats kind of what i was talking about. our scenes dont mix at all. newcelica.org is pretty much a pure 7th gen site.

I gotta say thats the nicest lookin celica I've ever seen, makes me want to drive it. And to completely truthful... I've never seen the TRD big brake kit before. Maybe I am sheltered or what not, but thats sweet. Toyota seems to have more and more stuff I've never heard about but hey, thats cool.

Nice ride

Chris

really nicely done man. and nice step by step customizing process.
thanks...

see thats kind of what i was talking about. our scenes dont mix at all. newcelica.org is pretty much a pure 7th gen site.

we have a subforum for all other models on nc... I'll check out celicatech. it makes sense that people want to concentrate on their own model but I'm interested in talking with everyone who shares a similar interest

unfortunately, the mods available for a 7th gen celica are not that extensive. therefore, one has to either get alot of custom work done or do alot of research to procure the best parts available. I have done a little of both...

In one pic the car is auto? and one pic it's manual?? Did you do a swap or just make it look stick haha.

It's auto. Look at the offset of the shifter when it was auto, that is maintained after the shift boot was put on. Unless the car was in 5th while you were taking pics....

it's auto guys... the stock shifter is hideous though imo so I swapped it with a Momo knob and put on some nice leather Redline shift boots to compliment my theme. I think it looks much better than the old version

definitely one of the if not the nicest celica i've seen. These tend to get kinda
ricey, but this one is very clean and tasteful. Awesome job!
