the past few times i have gotten on my car it has felt like the clutch was slipping. But there is really no reason for it. it is an act2100 w/ the streetdisk, and i have the act flywheel. i put it in about 14 months ago. I don't beat on my car, i always maintain it, and overall keep it in good running condition. Has anyone else had the same problem with their clutch? Any recommedations on what to get if this one is shot? Where to go to get it installed? Any serious replies are appreciated. Thanks, Bill

i know nothing about this, but maybe ur car is putting down too much power for that clutch, nad it wore out faster than usual...maybe it got glazed over

Thats very possible but my buddy is running the same clutch with very similar mod setup and has had no problems with the 2100.

Maybe he is running a different tune that puts down less power? or maybe its just not a very good clutch

My friends car is pretty quick and i have personnally seen it beat a bunch of modded srt4's (saying jus because of a comparison of power), and for knowing whats on the car he should be no less the 240-250 at the wheels the way it sits now with basically no tune on it.
I think the clutch is a good clutch and shouldnt have a problem with mid 200-300whp so im real curious to why turbo4g63 is havign a problem if he babies the car.

Sounds very odd, I say something is up possibly glazed over but honestly the only way to tell is to open it up and look at it...with a street disc you'd expect a fairly long life-span for the clutch, usually the 6 puck or so clutchs will wear quicker than people expect due to the smaller surface area and increase gripping force...but full faced should las more than 14 months especially if it hasn't seen abused...I'd say if you haven't done it yourself find someone who has an rip the trans out and take a look at it...did you have the flywheel machine or scuff it up befor eyou installed?

Edit: also posible you got a defective clutch, had a friends glaz over and break apart in less than a year...fingers were all meesed up on the PP, it was nasty...different clutch and make than yours but still possible...

could it be that it wasnt aligned right when it was put in? they use the fork to make sure its all straight, maybe the installed didnt do it right

fork?? you mean to say clutch alignment tool?

take it apart and give it a look, its the only way to know exactly whats going on.

Clutch plate is worn, plain and simple.

The 2100 isn't exactly the strongest holding plate (Centerforce DF is 2300 for reference).

I typically steer my customers to the 2600 with street disc.

Comparing power from an SRT4 to an AWD DSM is apples and oranges. Compare the weight of the two, then factor in the fact that you're talking AWD vs. FWD which gives up the traction before it puts the strain on the clutch in most cases--not nearly comparable.

You can probably get away with just doing another disc so long as the plate doesn't have a ton of hotspots in it and/or cracks and be good for another year or so.

If you're interested, we can pretty much get you the best deal possible on the ACT stuff (it's good knowing Dirk (owner) and the head of sales there) and we charge $375 for a 2G AWD clutch swap.

Just as a side note---

If the disc wasn't aligned correctly, you would have had issues right off of the bat, (and the trans wouldn't have bolted up to begin with)so that's definitely not the problem.

It's definitely the disc being worn.

I agree with JNZ.. the 2100 is trash. thats maybe good for "mild" upgrades.

Anyone pushing over 250whp will need more.

well first i killed my stock clutch like every other dsm owner, so i got the 2100 b/c i didn't plan on doing anything to the car, then the next thing i knew i was getting the tbe front mount 16g and fuel pump. i will baby the car for the rest of the winter and do the clutch again in the spring i guess. it will make it, it only slips when i am under full throttle at like 4k rpms. What clutch should i get, i plan on getting tuned up to about 330whp after 650's and a fpr. the car is daily driven every day so keep that in mind. I am considering the 2600, but what else is good out there.
