I just looked thru the domestics post and there seem to be only about two or three there that are from 2007 whats up with that? I used to have an import and I'd take my cavalier over that thing anyday. well if there are any domestic lovers left out there post on.

Ronin Tactical
02-21-2007, 10:50 AM
How is that? Do you have a transplanted 4G63 with a T03/04 hybrid 57 trim, or are you bone stock like we think? Did you drop in a Chevy 350 (sideways)?

A stock Cavalier RS or Z24 came with 140 gross hp, or about 95-100 at the wheels. With a curb weight of 2,678....compare that to a Honda CRX HX, the little motored, economy version, and they've got a 500 lb advantage over you. A Del Sol automatic would smoke you.

Why you talking street racer trash with a car that gets outrun by Ford Taurus station wagons?

Sorry to dog you, little brother, but you started it.....just giving you a reality check.

twistedlanes
02-22-2007, 10:43 AM
Ouch man! I don't even wanna get into to it, but lets just say I makin a little more in th HP department. I hope the stock look didn't fool you, it's not much more though. I've ran with those hondas of today the ones that are all riced out all show and no go so trust me I ain't gettin smoked by no del sol. Yet! or a damn taurus for that matter, unless it's the early V8s.

Ronin Tactical

Ronin Tactical

So, an extra 5-10 hp? Come on, dude...get some exhaust and intake going..custom flash on the Prom chip....turbo kit...

twistedlanes
02-22-2007, 02:44 PM
I'm actually workin on the Breathing part, I need some money c'mon man I'm wokin at Walmart makin $7.50. As far as the turbo part I'm not sure just yet that's a money pit that I don't think I can afford at this time. The thing I was thinkin about was a 3.4 or a 3.8 swap.

And one import.

HickRocket1258
02-27-2007, 11:13 AM
I've got a couple. One a mustang (02 GT) and one is a camaro ('85 Z28). One is my daily driver and one is my drag car which is also streetable. And the other one is our full out drag car, but we aren't sure who is racing that one.

By the way dude with the cavalier you can make that thing go into the 14s N/A. My buddy did it with full exhaust, intake, I think chip and a couple other things. It is possible. It was impressive actually. His was a Z24 or whatever.

HickRocket1258

Ronin Tactical
02-27-2007, 02:08 PM
I want two different looks for my GTO - I want the big and littles, using Welds, with 15x8s and 275/50-15s and 15x4s with 165/80-15s....and I want the road race look, too, with staggered 18s (18x8.5 and 18x9.5) with 235/40-18s and 265/35-18s...

HickRocket1258
02-27-2007, 11:28 PM
I'd say that the prostars would look nice on your car definetly. They save like 70-80 lbs too. Get some good drag radials on them. I would say get 15x8 with 5.5" bs for rears. Not sure about the fronts though.

Ronin Tactical
02-28-2007, 12:24 AM
15x4s with 165/80-15s.....already got it planned...

Now, skip the white letters, because they look dumb on a newer car, and this is the look...

Yup. Did it myself. One plug isn't resting 100% flush due to under the bolts it was "craggy", and I didnt feel like sanding metal. But I think for..I dunno...4$...I did a damn good job and I love the look. Makes the lines very muscular.

Jim- As I said, I like it. I think if you look from certain angles it just looks more muscular. If I went back to a spoiler itd be a lip...I just think that the one we were given stock was a bit rushed a bit too bulky. The car also looks mean with our rear..whereas I don't like it as much with the 05/06 rear (looks squat).

especially with the skinnies on the back wheels, it looks like the car is supposed to be going in reverse! i especially love the old like 80's toyota corollas tho that sound like absolute junk, especially when they launch from like 7 grand and go NOWHERE! and it cost a whopping 2 grand to complete the project hahaha

U can swap a stock motor from a newer car into an older car, pay half as much for it than if you were doing a crate motor swap in a domestic, and still move pretty well. Alot of it is about the cost..... and that damn Fast & Furious movie... just bc u do your eclipse up green like the movie doesnt make it fast lolol

cosworth sri
borla exhaust
eibach sportlines (2 inch drop front, 2.2 drop rear)
svt rims (looking for a used set if anyone sees any)

I had a Redline, it was cool - miled the heck out of by commuting 70 miles a day, teaching at UTI....traded it on the 9-2X.

I'm back to domestic, if you can call an Australian car domestic..it's a GM, with an LS1...

My screen name was changed because that's the name of my new business, and I aligned all of my forums under the same screen name - a couple were valleyautomotive, named after my previous business, and a couple were just my name.

I know my car's not 'fast'. I consider it to be 'peppy'. I've only been to the track twice(once before mods and once after) For now i'm still stuck in the low 14's but trapping 102+ with a craptacular 2.7 60'(damn stock tires with spin and hop thru 1st and 2nd) after i did my pulley/inj/tune. If i could get it off the line nicely it should be a high/mid 13second car, which is all i'm really going for being it's my DD

Perhaps yours, I suppose, but my LS1 has plenty of bottom end. You've spent too much time driving a 145 hp mid-'80s Monte Carlo to be passing judgment on 350-400 hp, 12-13 second cars...

All in fun, you realize, but you're barking up the wrong tree with a slow, underpowered car, and calling other people's cars slow and underpowered.

My Redline dyno'd 228 at the wheels with just exhaust and intake...that's about 110 whp MORE than a 1984 Monte Carlo, just for information, in a car that weighs 1,000 lbs less.

Might be (will probably be) getting rid of the GTO next week. Found out it'd been wrecked in the front, took some photos, got an estimate, dealership didn't disclose, so...more than likely, I'm driving to Pittsburgh next week for a swap.

Not dropping $29k on an '06 GTO, when for $1500 more, I can get an '07 STI.

twisted- it'll last the day. lol

Ronin Tactical
04-19-2007, 01:09 PM
No info, just that it happened and was repaired (albeit half-ass) before it was traded in. Paint is flaking off several spots on the front fascia, the left front fender was painted off the car, and there's overspray on both outer mirrors.

It was hit in the front, or did some hitting, and when the front fascia was repaired, it wasn't aligned correctly and was prepped properly for paint. I didn't notice these things because I picked the car up dirty, didn't wait for them to wash it since the weather was bad, and I knew it'd get trashed on the trailer ride home from Pittsburgh.

Made better? Pfft. That's like bragging that your sailboat is sealed up better then a bullet-riddled Festiva. (So that doesn't come off the wrong way---I meant that the build quality on this thing is questionable at best. Better then some that I've seen, but still leaves a lot to be desired)

As far as interior, I'm currently addressing that particular issue right now though (like polishing a turd, but it'll look a lot better).

Next step is suspension (coilovers), then this winter, twins.

ozthunder

In all seriousness, the Vette lineup is very well made..still some fitment problems (i'm sure you see them allover the interior), but well made. I mean..GM's not stupid..it's not going to make a Corvette like it makes a Grand Am.

Ha! If it breaks, it's upgrade time. You've gotta remember that I'm used to high-powered DSMs. I should have my first chances to break it tomorrow @ Atco if it's done.

As far as it being a new one, I'm gonna wait a year or two to upgrade. They're already starting to drop in value on the used market. '03 is my limit on Z06s at the moment.

I'd better be in the LOW 12s easily.

People have gone 11.7 bone stock (02-04 MYs), 11.5s on cold-air-intakes and Drag Radials, and 11.2 on CAI, Drag Radials, and Long-Tubes (same setup as mine).

I'm hoping for at least 12.1s/11.9s the first time out (not shooting for the sky, as I don't have NEARLY the seat time in RWD cars as I do AWDs).

As far as the parts, this winter I'll be selling the Long-tubes, and CAI (which won't fit your car). Dunno what else I'll have available until that time though.

Longtubes..hmm..what kind? I'm gonna go Kooks I think (and ive heard that they are the creme dela creme!). I already have a CAI and enough of the little stuff done..this summer its headers and a tune..

Damn...Guess I'm banned. Stuck at work right now, and the only thing I have to take a sound bite is my celly, and I already know first hand that it sounds like ass on the cell phone. lol..It's a Vibrant 3" cat-back, has a nice deep tone at idle, but freakin loud at WOT. I'll see if I can find a clip online to post up.

X2, where did they go??

Yeah, they put the camera right near the exhaust and it sounds kinda rough. Mine does sound pretty good, it's no V8, but does not get raspy nor weed wacker on crack sounding.
