I blew my LSD today. i was just shifting to second and all of a sudden my rpms redlined and a huge grind. after all that, i had no power to my wheels.

my gears are fine, they shift perfectly, but its growls when i go to acclerate, so its definetly my limited slip differential.

sucks. gotta find one now and install it.

anyone care to help? i could use it. like right now my car is still at my job, i managed to go up to 20mph and park it at my job. i gotta tow it back home.

That sucks man it just isn't the time of year for the MSPs my seals blew on my turbo so my MSP is sideline till I can track down a GT25R...

Take it to Mazda, I went threw 3 LSD's and 4MAF Sensors on my 03.5 thats why I finally got rid of it.

i found the parts i need. my sponser helped me out, i just gotta get the cash and pay for them.

i gotta see if i can find a place to install them for cheap cuz its alot of work. i just seen a tutorial for my car at another forum. i can do it, but i need it done before the 17th of feb. going to a show. and i'm on a very tight schedule, works is a bish.

it did good for me. 65k miles later it blew. i'm not mad at all. i'm happy cuz i get to install a new clutch while i'm at it. stage 2 clutch.

roughly about 8 hours. i have to remove steering linkages, half shafts, control arms, battery and the battery holder and the sensors. then finally, i get to unbolt the bish from the motor.

I gotta remove a couple bolts, connect the forks to the right places to be able to remove the lsd, put the new one on, put the forks on neutral, rebolt everything back together. < that should take like 1 to 2 hrs. thats alot of bolts and messing around.

should be 8hrs straight, or double that depending on how things go. like me splitting the ball joints with the forks can take a while, i dunno. its gonna be a pain regardless.

then, i gotta do the clutch before i bolt it up on the motor again. sheesh lol. it'll be a good expierience.

yea i know. i gotta wait for the parts to arrive, it'll be very soon.

the cold doesn't bother me, when i get active, my body heat kicks in. so i'll be good. and i'm going to rebuild it indoors. i just gotta take it back outside and bolt it back up.

took it to cottmans today. gonna get checked first thing monday morning.

Whats the prognosis?

Limited slip differential blew. No power to my wheels, but the gears ingage with no grind. it only growls when i release the clutch to add power to my wheels. hence the lsd is f'd up.

Also getting an Excedy Staged Clutch. makes a 37% torque increase. that'll be fun.

the tech said it could be many other things. but i know that its the lsd because alot of people have had this problem on there speeds and they have the same symptoms as i do. so i have no doubt it my head. it has to be the lsd.

cottman is pretty decent. they do charge $300 just to take the tranny apart and put it back together though, no other work included. (at least thats what i was quoted when my syncros went on my civc) but they do decent work. I ended up swapping trannies myself. it took easily 8 to 10 hours with me and a friend. and Oh man trying to hold a tranny up while under a car and having another person put the bolts in, not fun. but good luck!

funny story short.

he said it might not be the lsd, i said it has to be. next thing i know he's asking me when i'm recieving my lsd so he can put it on. pwned!

i recieved my excedy clutch today in the mail. and today my torsen welded LSD was welded today and overnight shipped today after it was done. should have it by monday/tuesday and be running by wednesday no later then thursday. and then, off to tunerwars on friday! woot! can't wait. hoping everything goes as planned.

Just the little problems the MSp has, stereo and alarm things, say bar ripping the rear mounts out and then finally the turbo goibng at 60K, i bough it to be a reliable DD and it isn't, it also dosen't do well on wet or snowy roads so I am going with something AWD...I also beat the **** out of my CRX and it won't die and I take care and maintaine the mazda and it still wants to break...i guess i just had a bad experience and I want to get rid of my car payments so I can save some more money...

well. im glad i had no problems with my speed in your areas. though i'm doing a complete rebuild on my motor. i hope nothing really bad happens to me.

i guess awd is your only option. what kind of awd are you looking at? mazda does make the mazdaspeed 6 awd.

I'm looking at 93-01 Imprezas, i always liked the 98-01 2.5RS but I think i am going to grab a cheap one and use the money after I sell the speed to do a motor swap (Possibly Sti) and the RS exterior...

Well i have a spare motor if you are looking to build one without having down time on your car...2.0L FS out of an 02 Prtoege "non-MSP" but same other than a few bolt on parts you can pull of your stock motor when you'd swap it in, shoot me a PM if you are interested...
