Pretty much on the 2.8's its just electrical stuff. The turbo ones have turbo issues but from what i have read about the 2.8 engines they are pretty good if you do the service stuff.

my buddy just traded in his. same car, 2000, 5 spd, qttro, , 1.8t, premium everything.

his electrical went and it cost him like 2500 to fix and then his suspension went and he got rid of the car. he's on here, his name is quattro4eva i think. vwcorrado kid knows him and might know more about the issues he had.

whats the mileage on the car your looking at?

my friend at work bought an 05 1.8T fully loaded except nav for $26k from the dealer, w/ 12,000 miles, I'm guessing you can negotiate your price down a little

did you do a carfax on it? you gotta watch them around that kind of mileage. not to deter you but my other friend who is in the navy bought one and traded it it 6 months later for the same issues, his was 60k miles.

im not saying this happens to every audi but i'd be too freaked out to buy one after those two owning one

have not done a carfax yet(if i go to check it out ill def. get one)

the dealer does say it's "Carfax Certified with a Buyback Guarantee"

does anyone know what that entails? Im guessing it just entitles you to a refund if the Carfax is innacurate.. which isnt entirely helpful.

its so weird, im getting tons of opinions, reading tons of reviews, and i cant get a clear feeling as to what i can expect. seems like a shot in the dark. either itll be a great car with few problems or a complete nightmare.

yeah,.. i may just have to check it out and then decide if i want to take a chance on it i guess. maybe my uneasiness will help me negotiate a lower price, at least.

Put a post in car discussion asking if anyone has a carfax account! I remember someone had unlimited reports before!

I have the exact same motor and I love it. The V6 is fairly quick and there are few problems that i have encountered. The snub mount is weak and it takes 6.5 quarts of oil are the only things i havent liked about the car.

my a4 is a 97 1.8t with just over 150K and i have had no electrical problems, nor is there any history of major electrical problems with the car.

actually... the history of the car shows no major issues ever, just routine stuff.

the heated seats needed new heating pads, and the rear main seal leaked at one point... other than that the car has needed brakes, tires, ball joints,... normal stuff.

i paid half of what they're asking for the one you're looking at.

i'd look around, they are priced very reasonably around here 11K seems a bit steep.

the 2.8's are more reliable from what i've heard, just harder to work on mechanically because it's more cramped.

In short, carfax sucks and isn't 100% accurate in many cases. Like for my car it just shows all previous owners and no record of any accident, my car was clean.

I was rear ended by a ford F650 with over 4000 dollars of damage and carfax doesn't show it. And I didn't fix it myself, I got the insurance company to deal with it.

Don't let a carfax guarantee decieve you.
