I just saw a picture on Nasioc (suabru forums) of a guy who just got a WRX but sold his civic si....i actually like the looks of the new ones. I have always almost been the one to bash civics for the whole ricer bit....but the new hatches are pretty damn hot. So im thinking either like an 03ish SI or a 98-01 2.5rs. Every civic i heard has sounded horrible with an exhaust. Is it just a ricer thing or does every one sound bad?

not every civic sounds horrible, i drive the older version of the si before they changed them to hatches, most people dont like the new ones, but that one looks nice just needs a little more of a drop, but yea theyre fun cars

No, every Civic does not have to sound bad. Unfortunately, so many people get very cheap with the Hondas these days. It’s soooo easy to make a nice car out of a Honda but it gets “riced out” all to often. I have an Accord with DC headers and 2.25inch exhaust. It sounds very throaty… not cheap at all.
Note: most of the Civics out there these days just have a cheap muffler which sounds horrible. To make matters worse, it usually doesn’t fit and rattles, which aides in the infamous “fart” sound. I saw a Toyota Echo with the most ugly, rusted looking muffler, hanging from the back of the car. Somehow, the loud fart sound has become the staple of performance, but “we” know better.
Whatever you do with the Civic, make sure you get quality parts, don’t short cut yourself or the car… do it right. Simply having a “nice and clean” Civic, you’ll be the envy of the majority of car owners out there. Hey… just look at 99ElectronBlueCivics’ car.

I've always liked them . The interior is relatively sharp on them. Its not a rocket but you're not paying for one either. Its cheap as hell. Insurance co. won't beat you up. I'm all for it.
The hardest thing to handle was the shifter placement but I'm sure you'd get used to it like anything else.

I like a lot of cars, even Hondas. Civics are just misunderstood.
If I had the money I would get an EP or EK hatch
Cars are alot like pets. Its not their fault they get stupid owners.

They are OK. Like Aaron said, the shifter is like a boner sticking out of the dash. Weird.

I luv civics but that one is my least favorite. You are better off with a 99-2000 si. If not go hatch back and do a motor swap. The new sis are ugly in my opinion. Too "hatchbacky"

One of my good friends from work has one. It's cool. Has a RSX motor, which is nice. That Si in the photo has the A-Spec package (minus the wheels). I almost bought one awhile ago too, but I went w/ a turbo instead. (teh 1.8t)
ps, btw: their front tires are way too narrow, and I think their center of gravity is above the dash line, but maybe that's just me. :\
If you're interested I might be letting the GC go.

I'd avoid the "new" SI. First, its ugly and secondly it has a retarded shifter.

Every civic i heard has sounded horrible with an exhaust. Is it just a ricer thing or does every one sound bad?
Get a nice turbo kit. Turbos make any car sound nice
