No way?! A tune (with aftermarket parts) will help my gas mileage that much?
How much we talking here? i get around 21-23ish right now with a lot of highway. So ill be looking at like 25+???

According to a thread on Evom as GOOD as 300 miles per tank with mixed driving. I am at about half that right now

As far as highway miles go you wont notice much if anything with a tune. City mileage should be better though

If you get a tune can they tell when you go in for warranty things?

I've gotten as good as 26 on the highway, and as bad as 13...
A tune will help a lot.

A Tech that knew what he was doing would be able to tell. Most would have no clue.

Looks like a tune is in order. I get avg 21 with mixed driving, lately though with the roof rack on i have been getting much below that, maybe its the winter blend.

My cousin (olsookie) gets much better gas mileage since he did the reflash, and his car is way faster at the same time

A tune will only effect open loop operation, therefore you will not see better gas mileage after a flash..And if you change around closed loop values there is only a very small window for improvement and drivability will suffer.. I have gotten over 300 miles to a tank on my evo on the highway..
So in short the only time your gas mileage will improve, or I should say efficiency will improve is if you are are 100% throttle..

I average 18.5-19 MPG based on 245mi range per 12.5g fuel up and have done this over a 1 year period. There have been very few times I've driven and not taken it to 7K RPM for at least 2 consec gears too.
This is with 393whp (Mustang dyno) on 93oct.
The more efficient your engine is (exhaust, big turbo, intake, exhaust mani, etc), the better the mpg.
The tune is probably the most important after exhaust regarding mpg. Granted you can ruin mpg with a bad tune, but a good tune can't drastically improve on mpg over stock without a good bit of other mods too.
As for the people claiming 300 miles per tank:roll: on either of these cars. Maybe if you drifted for 20miles before entering the station. Most likely, you forgot to reset the trip meter:). You just can't vary that much from the EPA ratings (which are 1-2mpg high to begin with) in a car.
